Loose Sun in Leo Incense
$48.00
Jeremy Bechelli, Ph.D., is the proprietor of Phytognosis, ultra fine purveyor of materia magica, incenses, and resins —
This sun in Leo incense was compounded on Friday, August 9th at 6:00 AM using 36 unique botanical ingredients with the weight of each ingredient in various multiples of 36. The primary solar resins include 6 types of copal, mastic resin, gum juniper, and olibanum. The woods include a solar mix of Red sandars wood, juniper, and sandalwood. Fiery notes originate from Ceylon cinnamon, galangal, ginger, and three exotic species of pepper.
Several of the resins were died and polished using extracts of various plants and botanicals that give them a glowing almost jewel like look, reminiscent of the solar rays sparkling off precious gems. This is a luxurious blend containing several rare and unusual ingredients.

I adore this incense. The smell is heavenly and radiant. I always look forward to my Sol rituals on Sunday and getting to experience this. It’s lovely to look at on its own, and puts me in a happy, warm frame of mind. I always appreciate the S+S collabs with Phytognosis; they produce wonderful materia.
First, the physical: this incense is absolutely beautiful to look at — “jewel-like” is the only description that does it justice. And the fragrant smoke that arises when it is burnt instills an immediate sense of the sacred. It’s gorgeous enough to merit use outside of ritual/intentional use, purely for enjoyment’s sake.
But within a ritual context, its full virtues come into play. I’ve been burning this incense as part of a devotional practice with Helios, and the responses I’ve received have been amazing. My experiences, confirmed by divination, have been so positive that I’m buying a refill!
I bought this incense for solar remediation “because I should based on my natal chart.” I was not expecting the messages and lessons I received. Upon casually burning the incense I was instantly transported into visions of myself in a golden chapel. I was by myself, in the center of the space surrounded by gold and flooded with yellow light, and was given a very stern paternal message. “Thyself is sacred, and degrading thyself is sacrilegious.” I was then flooded with an internal warmth and pride. My mental cloudiness was pierced with clarity, My nature tends to be very critical and self-defeating. So much so that I did not even realize it, and this incense awoke me to issues I was completely unaware of. Thank you.
