Kaitlin Coppock has been called a visionary, a pioneer, and an icon of the recent Astro-Magical resurgence.
When Sphere + Sundry began in 2018, there was nothing remotely like it.

and confluence of ideas Kaitlin has since mainstreamed and popularized, using terminologies we originally constellated.

TRENDSETTING
Sphere + Sundry’s early work established a pattern of creating mats with astro-magical iconography often reflected in working photography.
At the time, photography of magical workings was much less common and even “taboo” to depict.
Other elements which made Sphere + Sundry visually distinct (before becoming markers of the genre it sired) included slim, clear vials showcasing metal leaf among herbal matter and sometimes flowers, often with a silver cap.
Labels — usually round — dressed with nothing but a sigil / icon (which were otherwise brandless) were also an original signature of our house.
Candles (including pillars) dressed with precious metal leaf were rare or entirely unseen.
Them being ritually poured over consecrated Materia, and dried within the astrological election window to seal the energy of the working was likewise new territory for the market, (though Kaitlin had been producing Talismanic candles privately since 2010).
Origins of “Talismanic Materia”
The term “Talismanic Materia” was created by Kaitlin Coppock in 2018, debuting alongside Sphere + Sundry to describe her own contributions to its catalogue.
It was chosen to define Materials other than the usual metal and stone; which had undergone the exact same Picatrixian procedure for Astrological Empowerment by-the-book Talismans do, including rigorous election criteria for proper consecration.
The term — and more importantly, the concept — has been widely adopted by a generation of practitioners who have experienced first-hand not only its efficacy, but the expanded utility Talismanic Materia offers beyond what Talismans alone provide.
Talismanic Materia has become an essential and cutting-edge aspect of the Modern Practitioner and Remedial Specialist’s toolkit.
It is an open-source gift Sphere + Sundry has intentionally chosen to share with the astrological and magical communities without legal ownership (in terms of trademark).
That means anyone can use it; and also means that we can only speak to the efficacy and quality of our own output.
We ask that any who build upon or have professionally benefited from our work respect, protect, and honor the living tradition of which they are part.
Brief History
Kaitlin had been experimenting with creating various elected materials on Austin’s astrological elections since 2008, when he was gifted the first copy of the Picatrix translated into English and published by Ouroboros Press.
This translation was notoriously fraught — as it had not been performed by an astrologer with a compatible cosmological framework — leaving Austin to wrestle with the process of personally deciphering it, which required years of experimentation.
All of the knowledge on Astrological Magic Austin has amassed has been self-taught from a mélange of researching traditional texts and personal experience.
Kaitlin, less bookish by nature, has been Austin’s pupil and collaborator for almost 2-decades. Her background includes formal empowerments in Sabbatic and Azöetic Craft, Classical Feng Shui, and a Chiron-conj.-Spirt-led interest in healing via natural materials.
By 2018, interest in astrology and magic was skyrocketing, and Kaitlin found herself burnt out on web design. Esoteric publishing enthusiasts may be familiar with her old imprint: FORM & FUNCTION [ web production ].
She came out of the “broom closet” by debuting the fruits she had been cultivating alongside Austin on and off for the 10-years prior — alongside all the terminology, aesthetics, and ideas which came with it; clueless as to the life-changing impact Sphere + Sundry would go on to have on tens of thousands of Human Spirits.
