I used to use the previous iteration of S+S Forgemaster's Jow for workouts all the time. But I caught wind of someone saying this helps for pain and nerve stuff.
I get restless legs sometimes and it's a horrible feeling. Like you feel numb but need to move though no movement ever satisfies. Twice now when it happened I tried the Jow and I swear it worked almost immediately. I also put it on sore or stiff muscles and it has the effect of gently melting down stuckness.
I find these to be the smoothest selection for Mars. Most notably for the healing element.
This combined with Water of Antares is the perfect pre workout. I also *feel* stronger. Additionally, works great on sore and/or aching muscles (love this for my low back!).
I use it for pain relief and soreness, especially due to athletic injuries. I combine it with Asclepius for additional medical relief. It gives you a comforting energy, and it has even helped my cat with her diabetes and going into remission!
I have an autoimmune disease that causes inflammation in my connective tissue and joints, most notably in my SI joints and my spine. When I apply this widely to the area of my lower back where my SI joints are, I *always* get some level of relief. The medicine in this is potent. Sometimes if I’ve rubbed this in properly, it’s more comforting than a heating pad, which is saying a lot because the only thing aside from prednisone that relieves my pain is application of heat. I was worried that something Mars-based would increase inflammation, but it doesn’t at all! It promotes blood flow to the area and there’s this internal warming thing that goes on. When my SI joints flare, it causes the muscles in my glutes and lower back to strain so bad I end up frequently immobilized. I have lived with pain for so long I usually try to just wait it out and end up forgetting I have this and if I could get myself to apply it, I’d feel better, but anyways when I remember I have it and apply it, I feel so f*cking grateful for it. This is worth every penny for anyone who has chronic pain.
My mother fractured her hip from a fall and I purchased this for her. I tested it on myself first on the lumbar of my back that's been achy for 9 months. It relieves pain after a few minutes and it lasts for hours, and gets a little better each day after reapplying. My mom said the same thing, and the first night just a couple of drops on the wooded area helped her sleep which was a problem at the time because of the pain.
My anxiety has a lot of random muscle groups wound up, so I'm constantly in a state of ache and pain while trying to undo that damage. This is the only thing that has helped to not only get me on my feet, but help relax and almost fortify those problem muscles. I use it sparingly, something I need to always have for the time being!
This has really helped me in creaky sore places where there isn't enough movement and heat
I haven’t used something like this in years, since I was training in Kung Fu and so I initially got it for my husband who enjoys martial arts and horseback riding. We love it! We’re both Mars folks, and have used it several times since purchasing. He loves it for the pain relief and almost instant inflammation reduction. I love it because of the way it promotes healing and gets rid of bruises fast. It’s also great for sore muscles!
Smells funky but dissipates quickly. Improves circulation and qi flow very effectively. Like a tiger balm but in a much potent way.
I've bought it for my mom cause she suffers from some chronic pain from old injuries and she says she hasn't seen much difference unfortunately BUT I've also used it myself for some pains here and there (stiff neck etc) and also for my injured hand (suffered some RSI on my hand last summer) and it seemed to really help with healing and reducing pain. It also helps to alleviate some post-covid paresthesia.
Foregemaster's Iron Palm Dit Da Jow II... the missing remedy that our house didn't know we needed, until now. Helped my acute plantar fasciitis when nothing else seemed to work to heal the condition. Through the experience, I also gained insight and made corrections in supportive footwear to prevent further running injuries. Now healthy and able to compete, my husband and I both apply it to the soles of our feet and shins before races. This materia helps my lack of fight (natal mars in libra) when the time is right. To paraphrase George Orwell, sports are just war with rules, and I feel ready for the fight with this stuff.
I’ve been using this on two surgical scars with remarkable results. Its effectiveness became clear when I misplaced my bottle during a recent move and had to reorder immediately. The formula appears to be excellent for dispersing stagnant blood and improving circulation, and despite my usual sensitivity to previous Mars series, I’ve experienced no issues with this one.
I have pretty intense chronic neck/shoulder pain, and I've found that using this before or after my pain management stretches really helps me get what I need from them.
You can sense the amount of work that's gone into this. Sometimes I like to re-read the write up while using S+S materia just to appreciate this and connect deeper with it. the Dit da Jow is wonderful and I've been applying it to my feet to help with restless legs. One day, I hope to be like these reviewers who use it for working out/weight lifting, but right now I use it to get moving in the morning. My schedule is currently all over the place so this is excellent helping me stay up to date with my day to day. When I have used it and worked out, the endurance I have is astonishing. Not only physically, but mentally as well. I can’t wait until work settles down and I can have a proper daily routine and see what else it unlocks.
I am not at all athletic NOR am I particularly Martial… but DDJ is my favorite energetic armor in my toolkit. When I know I’m going to be in a situation that would normally overwhelm me, I apply DDJ to my solar plexus and shoulders and literally nothing bothers me. Once I knew I was going to be on my feet a lot and I applied DDJ before and at the end of the day I felt fine, when normally I would be hobbling around. This one is making me change my mind about Mars!
I missed the boat on the first dit da jow released and am so pleased I was able to secure a few bottles of this one. One bottle was given to a friend with a shoulder injury and while it hasn't helped his body reattach the bicep tendon it has been a wonderful assist in recovering ROM and building all the other muscles and tendons of the shoulder / rotator cuff.
I own an acupuncture / wellness clinic in Chicago and I've also begun using it on clients with all kinds of aches and pains - back pain, ankle pain, elbow pain, knee pain, shoulder pain - and am so pleased with the results! Using it less for arthritis or chronic issues and more for muscle / tendon pain of an acute nature, at this point. Big fan!
Honestly, I got this to see if it would help with some stubborn chronic pain from a mysterious injury/inflamed issue with my psoas on one side (basically the entire side - very difficult to ignore). It was angry and refused to relent despite trying many approaches (rest, stretch, acupuncture, etc.). By the second day of applying it once daily, still engaging in gentle stretching - I was (finally!) beginning to feel some relief. I think a more undercurrent-like effect was being able to figure out what was potentially causing the pain to get worse, like I could hear my body better. I noticed it was easier to ground into the ability to actually release, almost like a stamina for the yin side of what I needed. I am still recovering and being aware of the area, but it is *significantly* better than it was.
Have been a loyal S+S customer for two years, but can't rave highly enough about this product. Austin chose a winning formula. I apply this before and after every workout, and have managed to return to, and then surpass, personal records in weightlifting I hit in 2019, when I was still in my twenties! Increases blood flow, decreases pain.
I've been using the Mars-Jupiter materia to aid in some fitness projects and Dit Da Jow II is the perfect companion - helping to smooth out adhesions, knotted up muscles and achy joints. I'm so glad this came back after hearing so many good things about the first iteration that I missed.
I have Mars in Capricorn natally, and one of the drawbacks of that is that I have a tendency to work myself into burnout really quickly, even when trying NOT to. This goes for working out as well as my career. Forgemaster's Iron Palm Dit Da Jow II shows how much aspects matter-- I don't have that Taurus Moon-Jupiter conjunction trining the exalted Mars that this materia has. Taurus Moon-Jupiter says, "Yes, you can grind, but you are going to rest and recover when you need it, so you can keep grinding later." It takes away pain, but instead of just pushing past your limits like, say, Antares, it absolutely will let you sleep... because you NEED it. Possibly my favorite materia I've ever used.
I also have a connective tissue disease and live with chronic joint pain that I had more or less grown to accept as a constant. The way Dit Da Jow *immediately* increased circulation, decreased pain and simultaneously drew attention to postural issues that were contributing to my daily knee pain was nothing short of miraculous - I've lived with this pain since I was TWELVE and DDJ brought massive improvements with ONE application!!
I actually have Mars in Cap natally (though in the 12th which is def a double-edged sword) so I wasn't sure if I'd get the same "bang for my buck" with this materia since I've already got some of the goods, but having tried it I am SO glad that was not the case - if you're on the fence about this, just get it. Seriously one of the best S+ investments I've ever made (and they've all been good so that is saying something)
I just got this today, and I'd been dealing with a month old injury on my MCL ligament (inside side of the knee) that I sprained when I slipped and fell on stairs. CapII salve kind of was ok on it and did help, Asclepius seems to take the edge off, but this stuff REALLY took the edge off of. It's sore sometimes, and sometimes I get some stabbing sensations at the injury site but with this Jow, so far it's been calm, which is a blessing. So I'm pretty impressed. I wonder if this will work on arthritic pain or just injury type (which mine is), but yes, definitely recommended. I'm sure I'll keep using it since I've been wanting to get back to doing martial arts since taking a 3-4 year break.
I have this weird thing where if my legs get cold, they start hurting. My legs have been hurting since last night, and I remembered that I have Dit Dat Jow that I have not used it. I just applied it a couple of minutes ago. The pain has reduced down by 80%! This actually works for pain relief! So grateful to have this at hand. I got it for my husband’s joint pain but I ended up using it first.
I was primarily drawn to this as a support as I began a very intense PT regimen to support my connective tissue disease. I have seen dramatic changes with how much more effective my PT is and how much easier sticking with a home routine has been. I'm regaining physical ability that I thought I'd lost forever to the point where I'm going to ask my PT about returning to weightlifting, something I never thought I'd do again. The magic is REAL!!!
This arrived Friday, I applied it that evening at bedtime to a painful shoulder injury. For the first time in at 7 months I slept through the night without pillow support under my arms/shoulder and with zero pain. My brain is still trying to understand H O W. This is one of the S+S materia that basically worked immediately and I'm so thankful it did. Sleeping through the night without nonstop pain was glorious.
Due to surgical complications, I was dealing with a long and protracted healing process after internal bleeding. Specifically, a drain that was placed weeks before suddenly started to have around double the output it had previously had, with no explanation. I was desperate for this drain to come out, and the sudden change in output was making me so anxious I was having trouble functioning.
I started using the Jow around the drain dressing and covering it with Asclepius salve after 2x daily. Immediately, my drain output changed - it started to look darker and like old blood, less fresh. Within two days, the output was finally dropping, and within less than a week, it was back down to its lowest levels and continues to drop. Watching those numbers drop has been such a relief but also extremely validating! I've experienced miracles with S+S products, but rarely ones so empirically provable!
This isn't a product I would have normally been drawn to but I am glad that I got it and deeply grateful for its impacts! Highly highly recommended!

Within a week of receiving my Forgemaster's Iron Palm Dit Da Jow II, I badly bruised my toe. A few drops of Dit Da Jow, applied twice daily, reduced the swelling. The pain decreased from a 10 to a 3 within 24 hours, and the swollen purple toe was gone within 5 days.
This is the juice! Never have I experienced such profound & immediate body-level shifts from a materia before. I have chronic neck/spine pain & pelvic misalignment from being injured in a car accident with I was a kid, & I have literally 2.5 decades under my belt of trying every type of body work, movement, somatic & physical therapy out there to restore ease to my body. I bought DDJ to help with fitness training, acute soreness, & recovery, but I had a flare up of the old pain points & decided to experiment for pain relief. DDJ comes through on both counts - I feel a fluidity & levity in my joints I’ve never felt before, & I notice myself automatically releasing tension & bracing throughout the day.
