Exalted Mars II Ink + Stain

Oak galls — the result of predatory wasps laying eggs on the tips of mighty oak trees — wildcrafted, crushed, and stewed in the hour of Mars, with a heaping helping of consecrated Ferrum Noctis Powder. Strained and combined with gum arabic and ferrous sulfate — salts of iron (the metal of Mars), which react with tannins in the brew to create one of humanity’s first deeply colored, permanent inks, in use since antiquity.

Clove and a small amount of alcohol have been added to aid in preservation. For long-term storage, consider protecting from light and keeping in the refrigerator, or another cold, dark place.

Unlike our other Inks + Skin Stains, which are botanically derived but usually quite light, this is a true ink that can be used with quill and fountain pens, best for writing rather than staining backgrounds. It is acidic and may cause skin sensitization. Perform a small patch test to assess tolerance.
