This is one of my favourite Mars materia. It moves like water but, to me, it felt dry in its essence. Capricorn-dry. Matter-of-fact, no BS, get the job done, focused. Maybe it pairs with my Capricorn moon, so it may feel different to others. It felt like a Mars that doesn't attack out of desire, but of necessity. It's a pragmatic attack. I use it while studying for exams I was unmotivated for. It didn't make me love the subject matter, but it made me work well none the less. It feels very contained, concrete, compact, not explosive, expansive and emotional. If you're already allergic to fluff, expect you allergy to be magnified. ps: my experience as a caffein-sensitive person was that this didn't pair well with a lot of caffein, it makes the energy volatile and hard to control and make use of.
I've already become a big fan of this materia, even though I've used it sparingly over the past couple weeks (and wow, a little can go a long way!) This is my gentle 'lit fire under a**' materia, as the moment I use it with a goal in mind, it's ready to work and won't stop until I've achieved everything I need - without the strain or worry of overworking as it still keeps a measured pace.
I engaged with the oil from this subset to write micro fiction on the theme of fish, for a submission to one of New Zealand's literary publications. Clearly, the magic has worked as the story got accepted for publication! For context, my natal placements: MC at 17 degrees Capricorn and Mars + Mercury Rx in Scorpio. As the story is the length of a text message and captures the vibe of this magical series, I put it down below for those wanting to get the feel of The Shark subset:
I live where no fear lives. No fear of the dark, of the cold, of loneliness. No past or future. Only here and now. Always moving forth, I await a faint glow of life. Don’t be mistaken, for I am not speaking of the light. I speak of the glow that can only be felt, not seen, in the darkness here. The faintest of ripples reaching my body, reverberating through it. Again. And again. There’s no mistaking life for anything else when you exist in the abyss. It’s exhilarating to meet another here, where nothing else exists. We are in the depths that know no storms. The sound of silence and the song of the whales is our music. Shadows are our home. The only warmth we know comes from blood, the liquid of life. This story is whispered to me by a fossil I am holding. It hadn’t been frozen even by an ice age, only extinguished by time itself. I feel this cold bone on my warm skin, and I wonder what would the shark make of me, a human? Could its tooth tell me a story beyond time, beyond the thresholds of birth and death? We don’t remember the time before we spark into existence, filled with warmth and luscious green. What about those who never get to know these things, instead floating through the oceanic depths like asteroids through the vastness of the space? What mysteries could be unravelled if we listened to them?
This Mars materia resonates effortlessly, and is supportive in corrective individuation and pursuing authentic desire. I love how it smells and it's definitely not as warming as other Mars items. I did feel a lot of jaw tension between ordering the chapstick and its delivery, but had no issues at all after it arrived.
This subset *immediately* became sensual & sexual for me. I wasn’t expecting that and it is VERY much welcome. Both the anointing oil and the chapstick have this effect. Mars of course is sexy, and my proclivities are in line with the description of this subset… so it’s a little bit of the Mars itself and a little bit of what that energy feels like on me. Highly recommend trying it for this purpose!
I feel like this series, especially the Shark subset has worked in tandem, on another level with FWP to evict certain energies from my sphere during eclipse season. It helped me see more clearly, what was there all along in the dark, what and who I thought were mutually beneficial allies turned out to mis-aligned alliances that needed to be cut off (heyyyyy one more layer of people pleasing programming, and the situations that benefited from these dynamics, bye). Cap II, Cap III and also FWP seemed to bring in syncs that kinda alarmed the wards so to speak, and FN kinda confirmed all. Felt perfectly timed, in a way, FN makes way for the flourishing of VED I think!
This series debuted right as I began a Mars ruled year, and when I saw the subset was titled "The Shark" I laughed because of this famous quote in my sport: "I am a shark, the ground is my ocean, and most people can't even swim." (Rickson Gracie) The clarity in this statement is experienced by the marathon runner/former football star/soccer pro who comes in with a lot of confidence for a trial jiu jitsu class only to be paired with a new blue belt who promptly runs (swims??) circles around that poor person. In any case, I felt called to this particular subset and it has really delivered. I find myself cool, calm and efficient in the gym. Mars-Jup is very LET'S FUCKING GOOOOOO, Antares is very "I *will* be the best"...this series is the cooler, calmer long game in between the two. Losing is more about learning rather than heartache. Energy is directed in a more big picture fashion. Goals move from feeling very far off to just downriver, ready when you are. I also get the most pronounced sensation around my teeth when I wear this chapstick; I feel my teeth more in my mouth, they feel sharper and bigger and I'm simply more aware of them. It's kinda weird but not uncomfortable.
