Ink of Exalted Mercury
Botanical khaki color and magic for prosperity, wealth, good fortune, and cheer, derived from pumpkin, carrot, mango, abre camino, and lucky hand root, combined with black walnuts as an ode to Sphere + Sundry’s original Exalted Mercury Cazimi Ink, simmered together in water from Mt. Shasta collected at sunrise on the first Mercuryday following its 2022 direct station in Virgo.
Carried and preserved in Tincture created during the Exalted Mercury election, with Ritual Honey as a sweetener and fixative.
Use as a (light but layer-able) ink + stain for paper or skin. Works best using a fine brush, rather than a standard dip pen.
Color the background of petition papers or sigils, or trace them.
Encourages communication, commerce, and way-opening.
Offered in a 1 oz glass bottle with brush tip.
Warning: do not apply to the skin of people with honey allergies. External use only.

This is my road-opening go to. I make model doors out of paper and use this ink to sigilize them before opening them physically. A great product to have in your S+S tool kit.
fell in love with exalted mercury at first thru the incense, so during the sale I bought the ink to anoint my journal/magical diary with. has been so supportive in deepening my communication and understanding with the currents of my life. and e.m. is so beautiful, man. the walnuts in the ink <3
I engage this materia whenever I have a written or drawn component to a spell like a sigil, magic square, or petition papers.
As others have noted, very light, and more suitable for adding an aura to paper than producing something lasting that you can read.
Re-reading the description has made me want to try it out for road-opening purposes specifically, and I'll update here once I do!
This ink is POTENT. I used it for the background of a sigil that had to do with Mercury-related matters and it worked far better than any sigils I created in the past without materia. I have also put a few brushstrokes on paper I use for writing drafts if my story and found the words flowed with ease. Excellent materia for success with any endeavors you might embark on with a pen.
I’m still discovering ways to apply and best understand the ink. I really like exalted mercury energy and this doesn’t bring it as close to the body as I wanted, understandably. For including the external world in the exalted mercury realm however, this magic is amazing.
I used this to help me learn my lines for a play that I'm in. It helped me focus on the words as I used it almost like a highlighter, and then afterwards when I held the bottle I felt supported in my recall. Amazing, a gift considering I was really struggling with this beforehand.
Gentle soft color. Have used on paper with prayers and it feels to really bring movement to them. Will also try staining skin as per other reviews
I’ve used this to consecrate art made in Hermes’ honour - the colour is just gorgeous. I will be using this for sigils as well as painting my body. I think this is my favourite form from this series.
The soft, subtle green is beautiful in the bottle, and it's great for discreetly writing on skin, especially tops of hands pretty invisibly. Have yet to put to use for specific sigils or petitions really, but it has been a great aid to embodying practical and purposeful Mercury vibes by wearing the symbol or marking pages I'm working with. Might be my fave form of this series!
I like staining my skin with the symbol of Mercury using this ink when I have things to do. It amplifies the focus that my adhd medication is already giving me, but it feels much more gentle and positive than a mundane choice to bump my dose up. I love it for writing; I have sigiled on notebooks with it to assist me in creative projects, and plan to paint some watercolor paper with it as a background for a Wednesday sigil launch. I do wish that as an ink it was a bit darker so that I could actually dip a fountain pen in it and write with it. But then, it wouldn't be so simple to paint it on my skin before going out.
Supercharger to any petition - I tried several times and it works wonders.
I love both mercury series for being meta-magical and incredibly versatile for all manner of sorcerous applications. S+S materia is amazing for personal development, devotional application, and theurgical gnosis, but sometimes I think that it's application in very concrete works of spell-craft and magic-making is sometimes overlooked. This ink is my go-to for two of those applications: that of making pacts with spirits (human and not!) as well as crafting sigils and as such it's been a priceless boon in my magical arsenal.
I love using this ink! So far I’ve mainly used it to draw sigils, and as a wash to coat strips of paper, in order to consecrate them for Mercurial purposes. The ink’s color is very light—a pale tan, or maybe a muted orange—but it’s still visible once it dries, at least in my experience. The lighter hue makes it especially easy to use as a wash. When drawing a symbol, I found that I had to dip the brush multiple times, in order to get enough ink onto the page. But the process was easy enough to get used to, and overall I’ve found this ink to be a very potent and versatile tool. I typically use it in planetary rituals, and to dedicate certain items to my work with Mercury. I should probably also mention that this was the first ink I bought from Sphere and Sundry, and I liked it so much that I’ve since ordered three more! Overall, I’d recommend this ink to anyone who wants some Mercury materia that they can easily apply to paper. (I have the Mercury in Gemini ink as well, which is extremely glittery and I love it! But this one is easier to see, so it might be the most accessible for “general use.”)
I tried this ink in a normal fountain pen, and it was completely unusable as such. Very leaky, lots of splotches, would not write. Comparatively, the Jupiter's Butter Ocean will actually write in a fountain pen, although it is still a bit tricky and rather faint.
This ink is also very faint on paper compared with other S+S inks attempted (with the exception of Mercury in Gemini which is more or less completely clear). You might consider using it in the place of water on an ink block of you want to write something legible. For petitions or other writing to spirits I expect this would still read fine.
I'm going to try using it with a fillable marker soon and will update this review with the results of that experiment.
I have been moved several times to draw circles around my ankles with this. The days that I have done that, its been a speedier/get things done, dance with rainbows, but also no time to smell the roses. Perhaps this was slightly foolhardy, but I feel like that is in line with the spirit of this ink. Sort of like borrowing winged sandals - it will absolutely get what you need done, but you best be prepared because you don't control the speed through which the day is happening.
I highly recommend this product and use it regularly. I love to get blank notecards and then use this ink to write glyphs and names in order to ask for help, give thanks, ect. It feels *good* in the hand and is surprisingly easy to write with...I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to actually write with the brush cap and you totally can. I highly recommend!
I used this to draw a sigil on a petition for a road opening candle spell. The candle has been burning FAST, with an abundance of daily results affirming its success. Super effective. I’m really excited about this resource!
I have used this to draw a sigil on my work computer when the internet was being shoddy and it fixed itself really quickly, also every package I have mailed has had this ink on the outside and has arrived ahead of schedule & undamaged. I am excited to explore what else it can do as it seems to act as a flag for items that im asking mercury to take special care of. love love love
I wear this Ink occasionally for supporting articulate speech and when otherwise in need of a Mercurial boost. I most often draw simple Mercury sigils on my skin with it or apply the Ink to parchment paper during ritual. The Ink can be painted on faintly under clothes to avoid having it seen by others, if needed.
The lush ingredients and the subtle tone make this stain very approachable and workable. If you use it to draw sigils on skin, they will likely not be noticeable to others out in the wild (at least in my experience with the brush cap provided). Especially for this series, ink/stain seems so appropriate and intuitive to use for Mercurial devotions and so many other uses. Tis the season to put a little dot of it on one’s mail, for instance! Oh I just can’t get over all the organic ingredients- it feels like a whole table of yummy offerings condensed in a versatile little bottle. Don’t sleep on the stains!
I got this in the secondary market and it’s great! I didn’t know if I would like working with an ink and couldn’t really afford to not like it, but after trying it once I’m contemplating buying double as soon as I can. Can’t describe the power and clarity. I’d like this forever.
