11:11 as the Equation of Creation

This began as a part of the Magnum Mundi write-up, but was broken into its own article. The bright side is, that also allowed for further expansion on some concepts! And it’s reeaaal nerdy!

There is a SIGN at the entry to this rabbit hole which points toward the illustrious tradition of geeking out on numbers and their associations in the esoteric realm, leading to confirmation of certain occult conclusions.

With that in mind, recently I stumbled upon a post saying:

1111 x 1111 being equal to 1234321 is the mathematical equivalent of white light dispersing through a prism to make a rainbow.”

Anyone who has read the Spica write-up knows why such a thing would make my eyes widen! And those who have worked through the behemoth that is Magnum Mundi’s might recall that the last working’s Sabian Symbol — the Luminaries combined from 28°-29° Pisces — just so happens to be white light dispersing through a prism into a rainbow.

At first I didn’t even quite understand what the post’s statement meant, until I ran it through a calculator to verify its accuracy and also think on it for a beat. Which was the seed this full bloom of a piece started from.

What it means is: a singular input constellating into a perfectly complimentary spectrum.

Upon further contemplation, I discovered more ways in which this simple but meaningful equation relates to not only Spica and the Mundii, but what the number 11:11 represents (— a question which pops up in our Client Community every now and again!)

First off, the result of the result essentially boils down to 7. In 2 different ways:

  • There are seven individual numbers in the sequence (1234321), and
  • 1+2+3+4+3+2+1 equals 16; and distilling 1+6 also equals 7.

While the basic formula of [any amount of 1s] x [the same amount of 1s] will always result in a numeric sequence that mirrors one another but peaks with the single highest number in the very center, the reason 1111 is the real ~magic trick~ is because of the equals 7 bit.

Because there are 7 colors in the rainbow (Spica); and 7 classical Spheres (Thema + Magnum).

There are more than 7 Planets and more than 7 colors, but 7 of each are what’s considered visible to Humanity from our Earthly vantage. Which makes them not only apparent, but important. Cells cluster together in batches of 7 on a single plane; biology dictates for an entity to be classified as a living organism, it must possess 7 defining life processes, &c.

There are various ways of assigning colors to the Planetary bodies (many simply relate to more than one), but observe how in at least one system the 7 Planetary bodies mapped to the colors they’re associated with in the actual rainbow batch them into yang and yin.

This is fascinating / perfect because red-to-yellow lights move fastest when passing through matter, while blue-to-violet move slowest. This results in the yang colors and bodies being at the top (the yang-est part) of a rainbow when appearing in the sky, while the yin colors and bodies remain lowest and closest to our Earthly realm (the yin-est), separated by a singular intermediary Mercury who — pending sect — swings both ways.

The Luminaries begin or end each half of their sequence, creating the foundation of their respective sect•ions. The Sun is closest to central because the rest of the ~Solar system~ revolves around it, and the Moon is closest to the ground / us because we live in the “sub-Lunary realm,” and She revolves around Earth.

The original number being multiplied in the equation being 1111 reminded me of 11:11 as a waymark, which I spoke about on Rune Soup in 2019. Making it especially wyrd that Hermanubis II — a series which likely wouldn’t exist if not for Gordon’s Chaos Protocols — was created on 11/11 that same year.

I shared how the second after performing a modified version of the Headless for the first time (upon Austin’s recommendation; shortly after we began dating almost 2-decades ago), I noted the clock reading exactly 11:11. Ever since, encountering that number has served as an indicator of being ~in flow~ in some significant (usually spiritual or magical) Way.

Some self-important occulty types allege “angel numbers” like this mean nothing and like to pretend so since New Agers and women tend to like them, but math is a universal language in all things, especially esotericism.

In 2016 a true-Dream imparted information about the nature of 11:11, and how it was a mathematical representation of the Yin-Yang. Which is so hiding in plain site, I mean — the symbol literally includes a colon.
You get (1) dot of white in (1) pool of black on one side, whose undulating circular forms (:) separate (1) dot of black in (1) pool of white on the other. Two identical colors making two identical shapes, inverted and reflecting one another exactly.

Note also that when depicting a Yin-Yang, the white bulk is supposed to be on top by default to depict the ascending, active, and aspirational properties of yang’s energy; just as the yang-est and brightest colors are highest in the rainbow. The power and oppression of the midday Sun in the height of summer juxtaposed by the dark, cold nights of deepest winter. This mirrors astrological charts, which depict things “rising” above the Eastern horizon at center-left, high noon at the top, sunset center-right, and deep night bottommost. Many Yin-Yangs are depicted wrong in image search and even books!

For those who do not know, the Yin-Yang is a distilled symbol which kinda sorta shows how everything in the Earthly realm works (a visual showcase in binary code!), which forms an important basis in Chinese cosmology, and therefore Feng Shui and Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is from the Yin-Yang that the trigrams of the I Ching and the bagua are derived.

Which shares a similarity with the Thema Mundi, being that it lays out the the basis of fundamental astrological doctrine and therefore: how our World and Universe operates.

And is the Yin-Yang not most obvious as a depiction of the brightness of day presided over by our singular Sun (so radiant it’s hard to stare into, creating orbital aversion that results in day’s actual dot not being well-seen?), juxtaposed by the dark night witnessed by our one and only Moon? Luna receiving and transmitting Her own spot of white (and black!) as a result of the Sun creating day on the other side of the world?

Something similar can be shown through the lens of the Magnum Mundi (the term I use to refer to the “fully loaded” Thema Mundi chart, but showing all 12 Rulers, rather than only the first 7 it typically depicts), where you can turn the chart to slightly wonked Aries rising, so Cancer and Leo divide between the perfected IC. Each Luminary gets (1) itself  and then (1) identical (but inverted, in terms of polarity!) Planetary set split between equal halves (:). Note that the Sun and Moon are one another’s polarity, which is why they only receive one sign each.

This results in 1+1 Luminaries, with 1+1 sets of Planet-ruled, mirrored, polar-reversed signs. Each reflected back at one another. Or represented in numerical terms only: 11:11.

TIP: Observe the diagram from the bottom of the chart on the right first, then move up and lastly, left.

While the Sun’s glyph can be seen as a zero; I find the mathematical relationship less compelling than viewing Sol as the dot in the center of an orbit / system pattern, or even interpreting its central spec as a fertilizing agent having met with the Moon (in the form of light) or the lucky sperm who enters the egg. Which I suppose makes zero make sense, in that a fertilized egg is not quite a “one” yet. Creatures in utero (physically or metaphorically) are fully reliant on the care or carrying of others; stuck in a state of unborn limbo until at least the point of successful hatching or birth.

In that light, I take back finding the zero un-compelling, and have amended the following accordingly!

Throughout the whole Zodiac there is one Sign and one Planetary glyph that are visually identical to positive numerical indicators:

The first is Gemini, which is essentially the Roman numeral for the number two (II). The sign of the Twins; the two-as-one, ruled by Mercury.

And the second is Jupiter, whose icon looks exactly like a highfalutin four (♃).

These two Planets share an axis, meaning they always oppose one another in Zodiacal terms. Gemini vs. Sagittarius; Virgo vs. Pisces.

It is notable that 4 is the central and highest number in the original 1111 x 1111 = 1234321, because 4 is so keyed to Jupiter that — not only is 4 its classical correspondence via Jupiter’s magic square, whose highest number = 16 (and remember 16? what 1+2+3+4+3+2+1 equal?) —  it’s so vital as a Power in astrological magic that ~it is said~ a circle with a cross through it (Jupiter’s “Primary” Agrippan seal) can be substituted for any other Talismanic image and still be effective.

Making a Venus Talisman?
Put the Character of Jupiter on it.

Making a Sun Talisman? Mercury? A Pluto Talisman, for godsake? Also the Primary of Jupiter.

I haven’t tried it, but an old book says it works so it must be true! [will locate + add reference]

This calls to mind Jupiter’s Exaltation Degree being within THEE DEGREE OF THEMA MUNDI’S 15° RISING. For it is by the Grace of Jupiter’s good will (and even greater generosity of Spirit!) we Earthlings go!

Drawing II intersecting lines (X) through a circle creates IIII sections which create the cross-quarters of the directions and chart quadrants, so it is theorized that this icon is capable of capturing and sealing any astrological energies within it (which makes sense, because as we’re about to see, it is essentially a remixed Yin-Yang!).

There are prescribed steps for drawing a perfect Yin-Yang, which result in 5 circles and two intersecting lines (resulting in 4 spokes sticking out, or yet another manifestation of II → II:II).

And in a more directly delineated (self-designed) way which relates to Jupiter’s seal:

  • (left image) 5 actual circles exist in Jupiter’s seal; 1 large and 4 small ending each line
  • (central image) 5 circles exist to form the Yin-Yang; only halves of 2 are clearly visible
  • (central image) 2 sets of 2 circles are identically sized; II central dots + II larger ones
    • These can also be interpreted as ripples or echoes, reminiscent of the 1s in 11:11 rippling and echoing.
  • (image on right reflecting leftmost) The two intersecting lines used to place the 4 circular elements within the Yin-Yang depict the seasonal Solstice and Equinox points, and also mirror the lines drawn in the Character of Jupiter (which themselves have 4 circular elements as capstones, perhaps representing those very events!), and obviously create IIII quadrants in each.

More on how the seasons align with the Yin-Yang here.
Astrological charts are also depictions of the Sun’s movement and reflect times of day and year.

All of this mirrors how cells themselves divide after fertilization.

What begins as (1) egg + (1) sperm (I+I elements) — merge together over 24-hours to form 1 single-celled zygote, which then cleaves itself into II identical cells, which again ~each~ cleave themselves into 2 — though note this is the 3rd actual step! — becoming 4 (Jupiter’s number!), which jumps to 8 (Mercury’s astro-magical number!), then 16 (divisible by Jupiter and Mercury’s numbers!) and 32, where it becomes a morula, continues proliferating, and attaches (or doesn’t) to the uterine wall.

This mirrors what chapter 42 of the Tao Te Ching asserts about the stages of Creation:

  • The Tao gives birth to the One
    • One egg (Yin / Luna) and one sperm (Yang / Sol), each singular until combined
    • Can also be seen as Luna in Cancer in the 1st TM house / the 1st day of creation
      • Womb
  • The One gives birth to the Two
    • The process of merging for fertilization, uniting to form a single zygote
    • Can also be interpreted as the Sun in Leo in the 2nd TM house / 2nd day of creation
      • Note how the Sun’s glyph also represents a phallus from above!
      • The Sun’s light coming upon Luna’s body; sperm fertilizing egg
  • The Two give birth to the Three
    • A successfully unified single-cell cleaves
      • Only 2 individual elements truly “exist” by this step in the zygote process, but the 3 is hidden within that 2 (II cells became the I that cleaved, which involves III base components!)
    • This can also be interpreted as Mercury in Virgo in the 3rd TM house / 3rd day of creation
  • The Three give birth to the ten thousand things
    • Cells rapidly proliferating in sets of two from there (II:II or IIxII)
    • Recall that II is Gemini’s glyph and IIII is Jupiter’s number. Mercury is capable of bifurcation but Jupiter brings enormous expansion. 11:11 can be interpreted as Mercury x Mercury = Jupiter, or the result of the activated Mercury-Jupiter relational axis
    • This is step “three” (Mercury) in the text but truly step four (Jupiter) in the sequence (since we began with “the Tao”, not a number)
      • Note that an alternative name for Mercury is Hermes “Trismegistus” which means Hermes “Thrice Great.” Mercury is associated with the Twins / II but also the number 3. They are the first-born Planetary Child after the Moon in the 1st and the Sun in the 2nd, ruling the 3rd of Virgo where they also Exalt.

With all that in mind let’s revisit the original statement, shall we?

1111 x 1111 being equal to ~~1234321~~ is the mathematical equivalent of white light dispersing through a prism to make a rainbow.”

We have a grand total of 4 steps to the seed-process of creation, all involving multiple instances and permutations of the other numbers!

Note that Mercury and Jupiter share an oppositional axis, with Mercury always flanking a Luminary (an activation trigger) and Jupiter always flanking Saturn (a termination trigger). Cells divide (Mercury) and multiply (Jupiter) after fertilization (which causes sparks of light; the Luminaries), but they ~also~ need to cease dividing (Saturn) and even die at some point to not become cancerous

That cross pattern with circles at the end in a big circle look familiar? ; )

Thus, 11:11 is essentially an equation representing the ~Process of Creation~.

It pays homage to the balance and interplay of the Yin-Yang (which can also be found in the mirrored, polar structure of the Magnum Mundi), but also specifically invokes Mercury as the original bifurcator (II) and Jupiter in the form of 4 end-units (IIII). Note that Is are also spikes.

There is a lot more to this rabbit hole...

The Spica cycle (which preceded Magnum) brought me to discover Itzhak Bentov‘s work and read his book, A Brief Tour of Higher Consciousness.

I would recommend it (it’s short!) for those interested in the machinations of creation.

If you’ve got your key concepts and numbers from Spica, Magnum, and this 11:11 piece in mind while reading, everything will make greater and greater sense as you continue threading the needle.

So the next time you see 11:11, note what you’re onto that day or in the moment, and know you’re likely early on or mid-stream in some form of meaningful creative crucible / process.

11:01 and 1:11 have often presented as indicating getting close to concluding a creative process. I see those often when working toward major releases.

  1. 12:34 has been a magical sync for me for 4+ years, a sync of my relationship with my partner as well, and this speaks to me personally so much about the nature of planetary squares, the magical numerical aspect of divine names, and the encoded math that Al-Buni references so much. Sooo many thoughts provoked haha. “The encoding of divinity.”

  2. Yesterday I invoked Thema Mundi and anointed a prayer that all rapists in the world die so there can be life – creation
Literal words from this text you write here appeared in my consciousness prior to publishing
2016 I also looked at yin yang balance in context of my thesis proposal and more personally relational / attachment pattern remediation (from trauma bond/misplaced arousal to love that is actually loving – unfortunately my environment never really accepted this or me since birth because I only respond well to love that is actually loving)
