Saturn in Capricorn Powder
Saturn in Capricorn herbal mix, largely comprised of various roots, beans, and fermented, aged ingredients — such as stone root, comfrey root, thyme, hemp seed, elder berries, black eyed peas, pu’erh tea, onyx, and fossilized dinosaur bone, ritually combined and fumigated using frankincense and myrrh during a strong Saturn in Capricorn election, made less malefic overall by the presence of Jupiter.
Ground to a fine powder following six months of silent incubation, to be used for dressing candles, as a bed for Saturn talismans and pentacles, or to be sprinkled in shoes, added to mojos, or applied in any way magical powders are oft utilized.
Reinforces boundaries and empowers bindings (to one’s own duties and obligations, or third parties). Increases one’s ability to operate under difficult conditions with less complaint, and maintain a stiff upper lip. Promotes maturity, “adulting”, and doing right by one’s commitments. Excellent for silencing the mind and getting down to brass tacks.

With a Capricorn stellium ruled by a detrimental Saturn, I was drawn to this. So far I’ve not used it much but keep it in a small altar box dedicated to Saturn and engage with it by holding it or smelling it. Normally I go wild with powders, but with this, I feel it wants time (ha!) Recently I’ve moved on to using it on candles and it helps to ground me in the work I’m about to do.
This is one of my favorite materias (the powder). I used this during a Saturn-ruled year as I began to build a relationship with the greater malefic and found it immediately offered stabilizing grounding in my rituals, it slowed time and allowed me to observe silence between thoughts in meditation, and it brought a seriousness, an almost chill to the air in ritual.
When I first decided to buy the powder (through divination) I assumed I would use it to “buckle down” and finish tasks, but mainly I use it to get to sleep. Just a dusting makes me tired. Which is amazing. I’m a lifelong poor sleeper who’s been leaning on melatonin quite frequently lately with diminishing effects. I’ve discovered I can’t even keep it in the house during the day or I visibly move slower. I’m going to be exploring other ways to utilize this effect.
