Son of Apollo Anointing Oil
Organic Son of Apollo herbal base comprised of calendula, St. John’s wort, yellowdock root, comfrey root, mullein, skullcap, arnica, goldenseal, balm of gilead, and propolis, consecrated as the Moon conjoined the fixed star of the Divine Physician, Ras Alhague, while applying to a trine with its ruler, Jupiter in Aries, from the Nakshatra Ashwini.
100% incorruptible golden jojoba oil — actually a liquid wax, known for its qualities of preservation and nourishment, making it unlikely to expire (if well-stored). Carnelian and 24k gold.
This Anointing Oil is the only in Sphere + Sundry’s catalogue that contains zero essential oils, making it a great choice for those who are highly sensitive, or would enjoy the opportunity to add their own blends.
The Son of Apollo recipe relies on healing herbs of a more warming, bitter, and yang constitution, often correlated with the Sun, as opposed to those used for the classical Asclepius formula, which are more yin and cooling.
Akin to SoA Bath Salts, this is wonderful for people learning to “let the light in”, helping develop a tolerance for inner and outer illumination, while improving general health and self-esteem. It is especially good for those suffering from depressive or anxious states, paving the way for a gentler Right Hand Path-type experience of the healing journey.
An excellent option for addressing health problems associated with Solar or yang deficiency, especially layered with other Powers that directly govern those systems (Son of Apollo over the liver in collaboration with a Jupiter supplement, for instance, or SoA x Regulus for issues of the heart…).

I was getting syncs for Apollo, so I decided to try this oil. With a couple of uses (along with Asclepius water) I've been put in touch with some medicine I've been searching for for years. I've also had the privilege to help my aunt who also needed this medicine (she has Asclepius on her ascendant.) Very happy I had the opportunity to work with this materia.
I struggle with a variety of chronic illnesses that are typically difficult to diagnose. Whenever I apply this oil, I always end up at the doctor's, even if I didn't plan to that day, and receive an accurate diagnosis, excellent medical advice and helpful treatment. This has been extremely useful for me. An unexpected result has been closer friendships with my doctors. My Chinese medicine doctor offered to pass on her teachings to me when I was wearing this oil. I also use this oil to prevent negative side effects of malefic series, such as Mars and Saturn.
I love this - it feels very nourishing, gentle, warming and protective. I used small amounts as a facial moisturiser when nothing else was working and it kept my skin soothed. I ended up adding it to the Blank Canvas Lotion and that works great for a whole body application.
I ordered this on behalf of my partner, who is in the middle of a protracted healthcare battle with The System. This review is based on my observation of his use, as my interactions with the Son of Apollo Oil are relatively few. (Though, I have found it to help prevent asthma attacks if I remember to anoint myself before a run -- but I also know that I need to do the Grown Up and see my doctor about getting an inhaler.)
More than any other materia I've purchased so far, the Son of Apollo oil has been the loudest in terms of syncs and results (unexpected milestones in appeals processes; unexpected notices for specialist visits) and "Materia Talking" -- it's the only of our oils, all of which are treated and housed with care, to spontaneously knock itself over or spill. After a couple of these incidents my partner started using it daily and those spontaneous spills have stopped, so I would say that anyone interested in this for a long-term problem should make the investment in larger quantities -- it seems to prefer daily use and is therefore probably more effective that way.
As for the actual effects, observing from the outside I would say beyond the aforementioned syncs, Son of Apollo has paved the way not only for healing but for (right what it says on the tin!) "assembling a Divine Coterie." Finding the right physicians, healthcare professionals, advocates, etc. is a HUGE part of achieving good health in this society since they function as gatekeepers and can make or break progress on your journey. For my partner, finding the right professionals and the right support network went a lot quicker after the Son of Apollo oil was part of the picture. From the outside I would tentatively also credit Son of Apollo with laying the groundwork for emotional and psychological healing as well -- at the very least it seems to make the medicine go down smoother, so to speak, and has helped my partner reach mental insights and epiphanies that would have been difficult to "stick" otherwise a few years ago.
Asclepius IV generally, including Son of Apollo specifically, has not cured the physical ailment, I want to be clear. But it has helped the situation progress (by calling in a divine coterie) and helped make it psychologically and emotionally bearable (by shifting mindsets, by easing some of the worst pain at the most important times, by cleaning out the psychic gunk).
I have been struggling with various health issues in the past few months, and this oil (together with other Asclepius offerings) has been of immense help. Applying it to the self provided comfort and hope, and, most strikingly, I feel like it guided me in the path of kind and competent health professionals. I have been intentional while using it, saying the prayer to Asclepius, and I always felt listened to and protected. <3
This is not an every day use oil for me. I tried it that way and for whatever reason was not connecting to it. However, when I use it not for a general sense of "well-being" or as part of a daily "stack" but instead as a spot-treatment for specific/acute issues (aches, pains, sores, cuts, etc) it works like a CHARM (or like...magic?). For example: had a sharp, shooting pain in my shoulder for DAYS that I tried various ways to heal (massage, stretching, Aleve). Nothing worked. Finally thought to put a single drop of this on my shoulder and by the end of that day, I asked my friend to crack my back (something I'd been asking people for days to do with no success - come on guys!), he did, and the pain was GONE. Stuff like that. It works.
do not underestimate the potency of the healing crisis!! whew. when forgetting that it is part of the process, it can feel scary & overwhelming. but asclepius truly comes through with the support and guidance to make such experiences generative. been helping me to root out some deeeeep deep seated coping mechanisms and heal emotional wounds
This oil feels so warm and comforting to use. It truly feels like being healed by sunshine. For body applications, I use the salve for physical pain relief, and the oil for depression and mental health. I also like using the oil to dress candles for Apollo and Asclepius.
Sealing minor wounds, scrapes, or infections with this oil will heal them, and because it doesn't contain a bunch of essential oils, can be applied to delicate mucous membranes (at your own risk and after a patch test, of course.)
I'm still learning the differences between this materia and the mainline Asclepius line, but for whatever reason, spirit calls me to use the Solar forms much more frequently, and baseline Asclepius items tend to be used on others.
Healed my irritated eye just this week. Washed the affected area, placed this on top of it, and it was back to normal the next day.
I've used this oil after experiencing major medical trauma. It was the only thing that helped. It immediately reduces any anxiety I have and makes me feel hopeful. It is hands down my favorite Sphere and Sundry offering. Thank you!
I got this one to compare with the Asclepius oil, which I've been using for a while and I'd say both work just as good but I do tend to reach for Son of Apollo when I have any aching muscles or a sore neck. I guess I just gravitate more to the warmer energy (I struggle with feeling cold a lot etc). Also, I know it's supposed to be used more during the day but honestly I often use it for bedtime and it still results in a great sleep for me.
More active and brighter in its nature than Asclepius oil. This is more solar in nature vs. Asclepius is more lunar. Can also use this during the day and Asclepius at night. Actively healing.
This oil has become important for me for so many reasons. It's health supporting benefits cannot be overstated. Many reviews sing it's praises for this, and rightly so. In addition to this, it functions as an ongoing support for my natal Sun in fall. Solar materia has not been accessible to me as a result of this and other factors in the past. Yet the are many reasons why addressing Solar remediation felt like a undeniable need. Son of Apollo helped to fill that need so gently. Over time I believe it has not only nourished this area of my life, but working with it consistently has strengthened this area to the extent that now Golden Sol II is gloriously accessible to me.
All praise to the mighty Asclepius! I'm very fond of the Son of Apollo materia. The most recent thing it helped with was, my partner's health. He'd been having some problems which I won't go into, but... after working with SOA, he found the solution intuitively. It's honestly such a relief-- I was worried about him. I love you, Asclepius!
I have, and absolutely love the main series Asclepius oil. I find the main series oil to be very effective. However, I was very curious about the SoA oil, how does it compare? Well, as many have said, it has a warmer quality to it, and doesn't have the scent of the main Asclepius oil. Aside from that, I still found it just as effective for random aches/pains. I think I need to try it out for other purposes next time (hospital, cemetery visits, etc).
I was using this oil while helping my dad through his month-long stay in the hospital after a tumour removal operation. In combination with a Mercury in Gemini BPALs it did absolute wonders for communication with the doctors. They were always helpful and there was always someone available too, which was highly unusual. Apart from that, applying a single drop of the Son of Apollo anointing oil on my forehead and chest gives a sense of protection against dark energies. It's almost like a golden, liquid light locked in a bottle - when applied onto the skin, it disperses any vapours of darkness that try to attach themselves. Would highly recommend, especially to anyone going into the "in between" spaces associated with 12th house, such as hospitals, prisons, hospices or cemeteries.
If the regular Asclepius is soothing, this one is more warming and slightly purgative (in a good way!). Great for allergy season, colds, flu, etc. I had COVID last year over Christmas, and I took my first dose of Paxlovid, used the regular Asclepius to get some rest (12 hours of sleep), and then woke up the next morning, slathered myself with Son of Apollo, and by the afternoon I felt 80% better. After 2 days of this, I was at 100% and even tested negative. This may not sound amazing, but the previous time I had it-- before I discovered Sphere & Sundry--, it took me six weeks to finally feel better.
I've only used this a couple of times, but the effects are fabulous. Perfect for returning to center, in a naturally-healthy way, and in a sovereign way. Rock on!

The absence of essential oils makes it versatile—I love that I can layer it with other products without overpowering scents. It’s truly been a transformative ally for both my physical and emotional well-being.
I have both SoA and the main Aesclepius series oil. I definitely used this for the day hours, as it's a little brighter in a sunshine quality, and as it's recommended in the write up. Sensitive folks will appreciate the lack of scent. I do prefer the main series scent, but the difference helps train my mind a bit. I occasionally use both. The first few times I used this were to deal with ailments, which were quickly soothed. Since then I have used it in a healing profession and also for layering before engaging Thema Mundi, all to good use.
I haven't used this oil much, but I always feel a gentle warmth when I do. As an 8th house sun, there's a hopefulness to it that I really appreciate.
A tiny drop of this wonderful oil is all needed to get to the bottom of the pain. It has been in my short list of first kit since. Although it doesn't replace the need for medical attention, it is helpful to have a first kit until the prescribed medicine arrives.
This one is a staple for me, akin to keeping band-aids and salve in my medicine cabinet. It's so warm and lovely. I actually apply it before I sleep most nights, and I also use it before leaving the house to protect from covid or anything else that would harm my health. I also like putting it on before I exercise because I find that it helps the workout be all to my health and benefit and helps me find the balance between effort being good for me and too much effort hurting me. Like other Asclepius items I've used, this one not only helps with health directly but also helps me find the doctors and resources I need. This and the incense from the earlier SOA series both have Aragorn in the Houses of Healing vibes, but the oil is less cleansing+drying and more fortifying and nurturing. Wonderful for the multi-dimensional way it heals the sun, feels like a good way to approach if you need it. Uplifts, soothes, correct, re-directs to healthy ways. Pairs well with *everything* highly recommend as a base so you come in clean before any other series.
Warmth and optimism don’t come naturally to me, but SoA helps me reorient towards a more light-infused way of being, which has been instrumental in my ongoing physical and emotional healing. It inspires me to go stand (happily!) outside in the sunshine, even on winter mornings, and then to warm up my cold hands with a hot cup of tea. It is simultaneously relaxing and revitalizing. I tend to think of it as the materia equivalent of Vitamin D.
I’m a longtime lover of Asclepius oils, but turned to SoA out of necessity when my regular Asclepius ran out. The energy of the two is definitely different, which actually serves me very well! SoA has earned a place in my ‘medicine’ materia cabinet.

I have been using this series quite often recently and I can’t put my finger on it but I want to cry happy tears 🥹 the healing this gives you is quite remarkable. Mentally and physically you start to see changes and I can’t wait to purchase more .
This is my daily go-to oil for solar remediation. It helps to ensure enough light makes it into my bones, heart and cells, essential for living in a northern climate and also a 12H sun in my natal chart. It has a soft radiance and has absolutely supported me in coming into healthier place of acceptance and self-love and self-trust with a difficult paternal relationship. It has helped to generate a better integration of a healthy masculine for me, and this outcome has been priceless.
I keep this within reach at bedtime and use this oil as part of my daily health routine. I feel more resilient, physically and emotionally, from working with this oil.
