The Golden Sovereign
In memoriam of the much beloved Heart of the Lion, Elizabeth Barrial of Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab and Twilight Alchemy Lab ritually crafted a limited edition perfume oil during the Golden Sol series election. Of it, she shares —
There’s a quote that floats around the internet periodically, attributed to Gianni Versace: In the past, people were born royal. Nowadays, royalty comes from what you do. Whether or not this is a legitimate quote, the sentiment perfectly encapsulates the essence of the Golden Sovereign. We are all born with access to our own kingdoms, and it’s up to each of us to expand that kingdom to the benefit of all, to rule benevolently, and to use our power to not only lift ourselves up, but to lift up those around us – especially those who are not empowered to help themselves.
This is an oil of power, but specifically it is an oil of power accumulated and wielded benevolently. It amplifies charisma, heals while providing healing to those in your sphere, amplifies authority, and brings opportunities for you to use your personal power to commit acts of true generosity, kindness, and compassion.
The Golden Sovereign helps you to accumulate a bounty of resources and reserves to sustain and enrich you, so you can comfortably share the bounty of your good fortune with others.
This is your kingdom; govern it with kindness and love. Be royal – not only because of who you are, but because of what you do.

I was showing this to my friend and she spilled half of it on the street. I was so upset because it was my favorite smell ever. EVER! I love it so much. But of course I had the other half of the bottle for like---a year--and I am very in love with using it on Sundays with a Sun Salutation. It is such a boost to my self-esteem. And I like to imagine that whenever someone is passing on the street where my friend spilled it, it glows on them too :D
I found this perfume to be ABSOLUTELY addictive. It could be because I have Rahu not far from my natal sun (and probably should beware giving more fire to that part of my chart) but the scent ––like a golden, citrusy cake on a sunny day –– is just intoxicating. My sun is in Pisces in the sixth house and this perfume always helped me feel seen and purposeful. Good for getting to work, doing yoga. It helped me feel lighter about the drudgery of the days in 2020. I used up my bottle quickly and hope it will eventually be restocked or something equally fantastic will take its place!
I wear this oil when I want to smell good, feel confident, feel seen, attract or prepare for meaningful chats with others, and/or "lighten my heavy-feeling heart" during painful days. A beautiful-smelling oil that allows me to enjoy more about my day and will bring to the fore or promote good things in the wearer. A well-loved favorite for this Virgo with a Moon in Leo.
Golden Sovereign perfume oil is like blessed sunshine on a cloudy day. It works so well for me (Leo ascendant) and allows me to feel and radiate my joy, despite all the sadness and despair around me (this is written during Covid conditions). I don't use it to be Pollyanna about life, but to free me up to be able see more clearly what I have to, and can do. I LOVE it!
The WARMTH! This entire series has been radically life-changing for me, and much of it, I've not been able to put into words because it's been so overwhelming and still doing its work. I will say this, though: The Golden Sovereign perfume oil is warm like the others in this series and should 100% be placed on your heart (that venus cazimi in the election just *chef's kiss), but the difference between this and other wears of this series is the external impact. You will definitely find healing and self-love, but you will also be noticed. You will be seen by you peers, your clients, your coworkers, your boss(es) — even, people on the street! It's a perfume that can be used for the practical purpose of needing to be seen and recognized in your purest and brightest form. It will give confidence and brighten you up while also shining that light for others to see and that part is really incredible. I cannot recommend this more — grab a bottle ASAP!
I LOVE the smell of this oil. The overall feeling is a warm glow, which definitely translates out in the world as I have noticed an overall warmth in my interactions with others.
Through the whole of the period here depicted, the golden sovereign — which under the exigencies of present- day finance has been turned into paper — stood as a symbol of the abounding prosperity over which that other and greater Golden Sovereign presided in a slow motion which became ever slower toward the end of the fast-moving age which bore her name. This, in spite of its miscellaneous character, is frankly a Victorian omnibus. It begins with a satire (all fiction) on the Regency period into which Victoria was born, and from which, under the training of Prince Albert, she so emphatically departed. This is followed by dialogues wherein certain famous characters — literary, political, and social — of the Victorian age are presented. Then. . .
The Golden Sovereign is my FAVORITE as a Leo Rising with a Venus in Aries in the 9th... I anoint my necklace and wrists with it daily for confidence and stamina; the scent is glorious, too! Beautiful enough to be commented upon my others.
I am new to S+S and wow, what an introduction! It smells amazing. As for the results...the first day I wore this (day of the Sun) I immediately felt more confident, regal, and radiant. One side effect I did not anticipate was how MUCH this would draw people to me. After morning errands, I attempted to have a quiet afternoon but it seemed that everyone needed to speak to me that day! All were good conversations, but it was an unexpected side effect. I've since worn for meetings requiring that I speak with some confidence and it has always done the job. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
The day I got this package in the mail, I went to take a walk and saw a hawk flying less than 10 feet away from me, landing on a support under a viaduct. So I knew this was going to be good stuff, and it is! This feels very supportive and heart-healing, and I like using it if I need to shine and also recharge myself. I love this perfume and Heart of the Lion both, and this one feels more "internal". I'm not a morning person, and this can help if I need to be. I also like it in the winter, when I'm really feeling the short days. I've layered it with Venus in Taurus rosewater for an art gala I went to for work, and it was perfect in terms of being seen, interacting with people, and appreciating the experience. And it smells amazing!
