CONDOLEO
There should be no despair for you
While nightly stars are burning;
While evening pours its silent dew,
And sunshine gilds the morning.
There should be no despair—though tears
May flow down like a river:
Are not the best beloved of years
Around your heart for ever?
– Emily Brontë
A sweet, comforting oil: a balm for despair, a heart-healer, and a catharsis.
White lotus absolute (Nelumbo nucifera Gaertn.), blue lotus absolute (Nymphaea caerulea), Egyptian neroli essential oil (Citrus aurantium var. amara L), Bulgarian rose otto (Rosa x damascene) and rose petals from the TAL garden, lemon verbena essential oil and herb from the TAL garden (Lippia citriodora), raspberry leaf and fruit compound from the TAL garden (Rubus idaeus), apple pulp and fruit compound from the TAL garden (M. pumila), Sumatran benzoin tears and absolute (Styrax benzoin), and zhi zi (Gardenia jasminoidis).
SQUAMA
Is it a dream? Is heaven so high
That pity cannot breathe its air?
Its happy eyes forever dry,
Its holy lips without a prayer!
My God! my God! if thither led
By Thy free grace unmerited,
No crown nor palm be mine, but let me keep
A heart that still can feel, and eyes that still can weep.
– John Greenleaf Whittier
During painful and frightening times such as ours, we sometimes try to protect ourselves from the horror and pain that we are experiencing by (intentionally or not) hardening ourselves to the suffering of others and to our own suffering and effectively closing ourselves off. This oil was crafted as a protection from the ravages of personal and global grief by enabling you to keep an open heart, letting the darkness of the world pass through you without injuring you. Squama assists in helping you remain able to acknowledge and process pain with eyes that remain open and hearts that remain open while enabling you to continue to react with love to yourself and to others no matter how dark the world may become.
.. let me keep a heart that still can feel, and eyes that still can weep.
The scales of a fish may seem delicate, but they are incredibly powerful. They aid in both camouflage and protection, and this oil will also aid you in knowing when to stand your ground, when to fight back, and when to fade into the kelp.
Pink lotus absolute ( Nelumbo nucifera Gaertn.), white willow bark (Salix alba), whole vanilla beans and vanilla absolute (Vanilla planifolia), lilac petals and leaf (Syringa vulgaris), fig leaf and fruit from the TAL garden (Ficus carica), Sumatran benzoin tears and absolute (Styrax benzoin), double-distilled Indonesian vetiver essential oil (Vetiveria zizanioides), tuberose absolute (Polianthes tuberosa), and melon rind (Cucumis melo).
POMPILUS
Loosely inspired by remoras, this oil will assist you in befriending those who – at first glance – may seem to be your enemies, in finding (and charming) unexpected allies, and in guiding you to your destinations (literal, spiritual, and metaphorical) in safety.
Rose geranium essential oil (Pelargonium graveolens L’Hér), geranium absolute (Pelargonium graveolens), Egyptian neroli essential oil (Citrus aurantium var. amara L), moth orchid petals (Phalaenopsis), Turkish rose absolute (Rosa x damascene), bergamot (Citrus aurantium), white tobacco absolute (Nicotiana tabacum), golden tobacco petals from the TAL garden (Nicotiana glauca), maidenhair fern fronds (Adiantum), Burmese red sandalwood essential oil and wood (Pterocarpus santalinus), lemon verbena essential oil and herb from the TAL garden (Lippia citriodora), cubeb berries and essential oil (Litsea cubeba), cinnamon bark (Cinnamomum verum), ruby red grapefruit essential oil (Citrus paradisi), and pink pepper essential oil (Schinus mole).
LEPOS
An oil of effervescent charm, quirky humor, captivation, and enchantment. The allure of the odd, the magnetism of Poe’s “strangeness in the proportion,” the amplification and cultivation of the strange things about you that make you uniquely lovely.
Sweet fennel essential oil (Foeniculum vulgare ssp. capillaceum var. dulce) and bronze fennel leaves, flowers, and seed from the TAL garden (Foeniculum vulgare), white lotus absolute (Nelumbo nucifera Gaertn.), blue vervain extract, herb and flowers from the TAL garden (Verbena hastata), violet leaf absolute (Viola odorata), CO2 extract of cardamom and crushed cardamom pods (Elettaria cardamomum), apple pulp and fruit compound from the TAL garden (M. pumila), flouve absolute (Anthoxanthum odoratum), honey absolute (Apis meliferra), and spearmint essential oil and leaf from the TAL garden (Mentha spicata).
This oil is NOT vegan.

Lepos is bottled delight and whimsy. I mostly get the apple and spearmint notes. It’s a juicy, sweet, and light-hearted fragrance that helps me feel at home in myself.
Pompilus: It took me a while to try this one because I was so enamored with Lepos, but I was sleeping on a potent power source! I’ve found Pompilus to be quite noticeable in the effect it has on people. With Lepos, I feel an overall nice “vibe” towards myself and find that that general atmosphere is reflected back to me, but with Pompilus there’s a tangible shift of positive attention towards me. People who don’t normally seem to pay me any mind me will be, dare I say… flirting? Others will comment to each other about me as I walk away, not realizing I can hear. Interestingly, I don’t notice a big difference with people who I’m already friends with, moreso with people who I don’t know very well or at all.
Working in the service industry, I’ve found it to be great for tips, plus it basically lets me ride a wave of compliments all day and can make work that would ordinarily be boring or draining feel genuinely pleasant.
Scent-wise, it is richer than Lepos. I would describe it as a luscious, mature floral, whereas Lepos is a bubble bath.
Lepos: Possibly my favorite BPAL to date in terms of scent and overall fun factor. The smell is bubbly and bright, but without being loud. It reminds me of bubble gum, or maybe just bubbles. Not saccharin or anything, just very giggly and sparkly. The scent is extremely approachable to the point that I’ve worn it almost every day since I got it. It’s helped me to feel confident and good about myself in the midst of a massive life transition and I believe it’s also helped to make my social interactions smooth and pleasant as I started a new job and study in a new city. 10/10 would recommend!
I travel frequently and it’s always tough to decide what S&S materia must accompany me. Pompilus is a no-brainer! I’ve worn this perfume oil on 3 continents, and soon will bring to a 4th! The scent on my skin fades quickly from the strong initial application & lingers softly for hours. It aids me to relax, and trust that I will meet the right, helpful people and I will arrive at the right destination. And I have! Again and again, even during stormy Astro weather. Pompilus on my pulse points and Deneb Algedi powder in my bag—and I’m ready to go wherever. Thank you.
Lepos has changed my relationship with my own charms. I’ve really felt supported by it to be my own kind of charming/beautiful and no one else’s. I love the way it smells—fruity in a more mature way. I’ve really come to appreciate how I’m aging and lean into that. Lepos has really helped me to see that kind of beautiful and I feel like I can be myself a bit more boldly with the true belief that it is a kind of beauty.
Squama has become part of my go-to ritual. An effective emotional balm, the smell is divine. A fast fan favorite!
Lepos has really grown on me. It’s one of my first BPALs and I find myself continuously gravitating back towards its sweet nectar.
I’ve had some fun, friendly conversations wearing Lepos! It tends to lighten me up as a person. I’m usually rather private and quiet but whenever I wear this, it tends to open me up and give me what seems to be a sort of likable charm. I love catching whiffs of it throughout my day.
Who knew upholding boundaries could smell so good? I have been successfully pairing the delicious perfume with Auctoritas for most “dealing with dickheads” situations. Aside from smelling like a well kemp person who knows her shit, it does indeed let me step into my power and make friends out of enemies. Disclaimer: this combo doesn’t work on super extreme narcissists. I think the boundaries piss them off. Ha. Otherwise, I have built a strong client base I am attributing in part to this combo.
I love Lepos! The scent is very fruity, reminiscent to me of ’90s Bath and Body Works, but in a good way. It came off as almost too sweet when I smelled the bottle, but it’s much more full-bodied and juicy on the skin. It’s probably my favorite BPAL (or perfume of any kind) now. I definitely feel much more at ease when I wear it.
Also, one of the Venus write-ups mentions Venus bringing gifts, and that happened to me directly. I applied it one morning before going into work for a holiday party later in the day. The drive was itself a treat: beautiful gold and purple clouds scattered across the sky. At the party, not only did I have time for a nice, in-depth conversation with my coworkers, but I also won $215 in prizes (I’ve never won anything at social gatherings before). So, thanks Venus, and thanks to everyone involved in making this BPAL!
Wearing Lepos always brings me the sweetest attention and charming encounters. File this one under miracle worker. These small interactions are sparking a deep inspirational spark, and that’s all I need.
Lepos!!! I think it’s my favorite BPAL to date. Delightful, sparkly scent that feels like the fragrance equivalent of a pink bubble bath. When I wear it, I get complements and better tips. I walk away and hear people say “she’s wonderful.” And they’re not wrong. 😉
sweet sweet lepos in all their juicy glory has been the most sensational yet easy going social lubricant i have ever used. eases. draws out natural charm. charm because life is such. sweetness cause what else. beauty cause it’s the only way. like beyoncé said. cozy.
Wow, Condoleo! It can turn a bad day around for sure.
The scent is very sweet, almost cloying– like candy. It’s not really my style, to be honest– but the effect is so heart-healing, it doesn’t really matter.
Condoleo has been helping me in the process of releasing unhealthy attachments, grudges and past lovers. It has been helping me navigate through a Scorpio south node Solar Eclipse that falls in my 7th house, supporting me in releasing 7th house stuff. Condoleo is like a therapist or guide for me in the process of mourning. Supporting me to let go + supporting me to find love within myself. Lastly: I really love the scent!
Pompilus and Lepos have absolutely been a treat to wear. When I wore Pompilus at work, I noticed that I received so much help and generosity at work from people that would otherwise completely ignore me, or some even have a mild dislike for me. Lepos, brings out the quirky side of me, and allows me to be more open to being unapologetically me.
I bought Lepos and Pompilus and they are some of my favorite BPALSs of all time. Lepos in particular I feel helped me make a lot of friends and connections when starting school. I really feel that it helped gain positive attention and allow people to notice what I was naturally suited to in the program. This was great because I felt nervous about certain aspects of my position relative to the program. I felt like both were a true gift to me!
Lepos- Is aaahhhmazing! The smell has been addicting for me. I find myself reaching for this daily. It’s sweet, grassy, and herbal. I catch hints of the honey and the mint here and there. For some reason, as it dries, it takes on almost a cocoa-like scent.
While wearing it I did get complimented on how I can wear such sultry outfits, but have such a weird personality that this person found it quite endearing – odd and enchanting indeed!
Fun little find, Pompilus offer a very serene and pleasant means for befriending others amidst edgier dynamics, but it’s also a helpful tool to organically aid and redirect urges toward self-sabotage (for anyone looking for a little support for 12th house heavy themes).
So I got pompilus and wore it for the pisces full moon. I ended up at a queer astrology/magic/tarot dance party in Oakland which ended up basically as a hipster lesbian replete dance party in which all of the mainly lesbian queers in all my 10 years of living here returned and told me how much they loved me. Hilarious.
I don’t consider myself introverted, but I struggle with communication. As a result, I don’t engage in conversation. Every time I wear Lepos, I am just different, more chatty, bubbly, and relaxed. The scent takes me to a place I have difficulty recalling!
Where did my compassion go? Squama had some answers for me in the resentments I had from not standing my ground in situations where it was needed. Luckily, compassion and empowerment can coexist, and maybe must exist and maybe what I thought was compassion, wasnt as it never included compassion for self. Now I feel resourced/protected/owning the responsibility of having a big heart, flowing the energy where its actually warranted, cherished, reciprocated etc.
This review is for Condoleo.
I cannot sing this oil’s praises enough. It has been integral for me in managing symptoms of CPTSD and healing those deep, old wounds. An absolute balm for my nervous system, it helps me stay present and remain in a calm frame of mind when I’m triggered instead of going into fight-or-flight. It’s a soft, sweet blanket of calm and joy. This oil is truly a blessing from the Most High and I am so grateful to have it in my life.
I absolutely love these BPALS. I’d have to say that Lepos is my favorite, though. Being a definite weirdo I was drawn in by the description. The scent is somehow reminiscent of childhood.
A bubblegummy/big tube of cherry lip balm slathered on your lips kinda feel. I always feel warm, charming, bubbly, and very social when I wear it. Elizabeth is absolutely amazing!
