Butter Ocean Salve
Jupiterian herbs for the promotion of relaxation and release, flow and abundance, fumigated during our Butter Ocean election and immersed in a combination of ghee and organic extra virgin olive oil. Left to incubate for over a year and a half, before being strained, and gifted the addition of organic beeswax and essential oils (arnica, amber, frankincense).
You know what else Butter Ocean is teaching me? That every single individual offering description probably doesn’t require a rehashing of the series description + ground-up masterclass in how to use the stuff!
Put it on… rub it good… and feel like you too are made of butter!
Crowned with white gold and lemon gold, offered in a 2.5 oz tin for $56, or if the Client prefers, a 4 oz bulk pot ($96).
Infused (organic): comfrey root and leaf, borage, olive leaf, blue poppy seed, slippery elm bark, valerian root, catnip, blessed thistle, burdock root, echinacea, fenugreek, honeysuckle, hops, hyssop, linden flower, marshmallow, meadowsweet, milk thistle seed, mullein leaf, plantain leaf, wild yam root, yarrow flower.

I am a big fan of salves in general, and this Butter Ocean salve is great for several reasons – to relax, for sore muscles, if something hurts, if you’re stressed and can feel it in your body. Or if you just want to pamper yourself. Feel yourself just become cozy and gooey and soft, like butter. All the good things.
Wearing this feels like those open mouthed kisses that babies give when they’re little. There’s no pressure to this salve. It’s an invitation for me, like a knowing that’s beyond me and intrinsic to me. It’s like a sunbeam on a familiar kitchen table after breakfast has been eaten. I’ve been wearing it a lot with immortal heart, and it gives a rooted, wordless, emotional and mundane joy, one that lives and works and breaks bread with sorrow, as in, supports and is supported by, hardship.
I put it on after work every day and feel so yumm!
First of all, this salve smells BAD.. my kid right away jumped away from me due to the smell 😀 It is like sour butter + feet in wet sock.
BUT — the benefit is not from the scent, of course — so I kept using this salve on my feet before bed (sock on to clamp down on the smell) and I felt a gentle feeling of okay-ness each time I used this. Definitely worked to calm the nerve, especially during some stressful Mars transits that happened recently, but in my case, it has to be used daily. The effect was very gentle (usually S+S materias are quite potent on me).
Thank you for this wonderful offering!!
Butter Ocean Salve is: feeling that it’s ‘all going to be okay’. I’m in a very stressful time at work (Mars retrograde in Gemini in my 2nd house) and lately with Moon in Libra transits (my 6th house) I’ve gotten sick and not been able to go to work. Now I’m at home with herpes zoster (same virus as chickenpox), which many people get when they are having a lot of stress. I’m on fire (thank you Mars). The butter ocean salve doesn’t necessarily help with the physical symptoms, but it is extremely comforting psychologically. It helps me to release my Capricorn guilt, the feeling that I’m not doing enough at work. It helps me to surrender to being sick. It helps me to find comfort in between the itching and pain. It’s indeed like the calmness that I usually find in my yoga practice. My butter ocean salve arrived at the right time (as Sphere and Sundry items always tend to do), just days before I got sick. I will keep using this salve when I’m better, dealing with the stress from work that will probably last until the end of March (when Mars leaves Gemini and when I leave my current position at work, how coincidental ;-)). Better: I will turn to butter ocean salve (and yoga) to teach myself to live with Capricorn guilt in a different way. I’m understanding now that I can’t do it all, that I have my limits, and that I need to put my oxygen mask on first before I start giving masks to others (and keep checking with myself if I’m still wearing the oxygen mask). Butter ocean salve is such a teacher (Jupiter) in a gentle compassionate (Pisces) way, reminding me that my Venus in Pisces needs to care for herself and have compassion for herself before giving all her compassion away. I work as a counselor in a prison. I think I’ll keep the balm in a drawer at my desk, as a oxygen mask. Prisons are definitely places of turbulence. Thank you Sphere and Sundry!
So grateful for anything Jupiter in Pisces materia related, particularly the salve!!! I wish I could have an endless supply as it has proven to be the magical anti-inflammatory I’ve needed to survive 2022. Neurosis balm? (check), tension tamer? (check) , magical insulator from the Greater Benefic? (check). I’ve had a few fave S+S series over the years but this and Empyreal Vantage take the cake.
Butter Ocean has been such a light at the end of the dark tunnel of 2022, a year full of twists and turns and and surprises both spooky and exhilarating. You know that feeling of euphoria you get at the end of a rollercoaster? The first time I layered up Butter Ocean it was like that. Euphoric. Instant perma-smile and giggle fits, a body high, then a wave of release. It’s that feeling of melting after times of high tension. Not necessarily psychedelic, but just high on life.
The salve provides release but relief as well. Jovial laughter producing, followed by heavy, content sighs. It hits just a bit differently than Ghee of the Sea, as all the S+S body butter & salve releases do. I’ve become such a fan of the salves for being such utilitarian workhorses — and crowned in gold no less! Savoring this one for sure.
