Butter Ocean Salve
Jupiterian herbs for the promotion of relaxation and release, flow and abundance, fumigated during our Butter Ocean election and immersed in a combination of ghee and organic extra virgin olive oil. Left to incubate for over a year and a half, before being strained, and gifted the addition of organic beeswax and essential oils (arnica, amber, frankincense).
You know what else Butter Ocean is teaching me? That every single individual offering description probably doesn’t require a rehashing of the series description + ground-up masterclass in how to use the stuff!

Crowned with white gold and lemon gold, offered in a 2 oz tin, or if the Client prefers, a 4 oz bulk pot.
Infused (organic): comfrey root and leaf, borage, olive leaf, blue poppy seed, slippery elm bark, valerian root, catnip, blessed thistle, burdock root, echinacea, fenugreek, honeysuckle, hops, hyssop, linden flower, marshmallow, meadowsweet, milk thistle seed, mullein leaf, plantain leaf, wild yam root, yarrow flower.

i have deduced that this salve is couch-potato in a tin! i'm an extrovert who likes to overcommit (+detriment jupiter in virgo), and sometimes can feel restless being cooped up in the house even know i know i need to rest and chill out. a generous dab of butter ocean is absolutely lovely for winding down and making me feel like time at home is a deserved treat rather than me being lazy. like other reviewers, i will say this salve does smell a bit like room temperatutre heavy cream—not unpleasant at all and certainly tolerable, but can be understandably a bit of a surprise if you're used to the more fragrant and 'perfumed' smelling salves from other series. still a wonderful bit of magic!
Nothing unlocks my neck and shoulders like this, but I have to knock a star off for that deeply funky dairy smell. After I massage it in I have to be very careful not to dress or lie down before it dries or the smell will get into my pajamas and pillow and linger for days. Trying to manage the scent transfer does reduce the relaxing impact.
This does indeed smell like butter, but it really works on bringing a cooling, yin energy. I would say the body butter felt stronger, and this one is still powerfully supportive though.
I love massaging this into my feet at the end of a long day. Incredibly relaxing and loving. For me it smells a bit like butter at first but then melts into a soft caramel scent.
This salve is incredible for relaxing and unwinding but also is very good for greasing the wheels of manifestation of materia or magic being pairing with it. Like Luna in Cancer but less effort. Enjoy life on easy mode. Smells like luxury.
So far I’ve mostly used this in combination with Asclepius on a loved one in the hospital. He said it was incredibly helpful. Using it solo on myself (mostly feet because ya know Pisces!) I’ve noticed the gentle relaxation…butter ocean for sure. I was a little concerned because people mentioned not liking the smell, but I feel pretty neutral about the smell. Would say it’s worth the delicious butter ocean vibe!
I'm hypermobile and get frequent and intense muscle spasms that usually take way more time on a foam roller than I have to give, and this salve is my hack for when I'm too tired to deal with them manually. Melts the tension away quick as lightning, and comes with all the chillest Jupiter vibes that nip any mental anxiety (which tends to increase muscle tension wouldn'tcha know) in the bud at the same time. LOVE
I don't connect with the Jupiter in Pisces energy as readily - perhaps because Jupiter is the one planet in my chart that's doing really well, and is in a watery sign. Maybe that's too harsh - I could say instead that the energies flow in a subtle way that isn't as dramatic as some of the other materia.
I have to dock a star as the olive oil/ghee base does not stay emulsified like the other salves do, even if re-whipped and refrigerated.
I've been using this salve during the day as an annointing kind of influence, and also before bed more medicinally. The effects are consistently gently helpful - I always feel a bit more at ease, less bothered, and more chill when I have applied this. The only downside is I really struggle with the smell when it's in the pot and when using it - very stinky dairy vibes. Once I've rubbed it in, it can smell more like frankincense but there's still a strange undertone.
I am... kind of high-strung, in a fiery, Marsy kind of way. I am always thinking about the next proverbial mountain I want to climb, and the obstacles in the way. This salve, applied to the temples before bed, just... dissolves the underlying tension I carry unconsciously all day long. It sort of gives me permission to just relax. My partner loves it too-- he always asks me for the Bedtime Butter! The texture is weirdly lovely, too-- a little wetter than most salves, but in a very pleasing way.
I'm currently recovering from surgery and it's important to physically relax so to not impede my own healing. This salve is supportive to releasing tension I would otherwise thoughtlessly double-down on carrying, and thus helping my healing process with beautiful gentleness. Also a spiritual warm uplift for gratitude practice, and a calming reading buddy for my zippy brain!
I've been applying to my feet before bed - definitely softens the energy and helps restore some peace. I feel like it's also helped with some chronic foot issues I've had the last few years, but hard to say if it really is the salve or the fact that I'm massaging them in the process. Probably both!
It's hard to come up with words to describe Butter Ocean because its effect is so subtle but very noticeably so. It's noticeable because it's Jupiter, but yin Jupiter does not get the same fanfare as yang Jupiter, even though it deserves it. The Piscean aspect of Butter Ocean is unlike the yang Jupiter we all know and love but instead comes to you in the form of the knowledge that you're going to be okay and whatever hardships will pass. It feels like coming home after work and knowing the weekend is ahead: I can leave my worries at the door, take a breath, and just relax.
If I want to melt tension in my body or have a nice, uninterrupted sleep, I slather on Butter Ocean, and I do mean slather. This materia does not want you to be stingy. On days where I have a long list of to-dos that I can't possibly accomplish in one day, I put on Butter Ocean at the end of the day and all the worries about all that still needs to get done go away for awhile and I can rest my mind. Butter Ocean salve provides rest, and it's likely rest you didn't know you needed.
Butter Ocean reminds me of when I was a kid, and on cold, rainy, miserable days, my great-grandma, or my grandma, or my mom would make me pastina with generous helpings of butter and some salt. When I would eat the pastina, the cold and wet misery of the outdoors would fade away. I could just revel in that moment of enjoying my buttery pastina, feeling warm and safe. That's the feeling Butter Ocean evokes: a place where you feel warm amongst the cold and desolate world, where your worries go away for the moment and you can partake in the comforts around you, knowing you're safe to do so.
I am in a L1 Jupiter period in ZR, and my natal Jupiter is afflicted. Immediately upon using both the Butter Ocean Salve and the Jupiter Butter Ocean Bath salt things began to move. I only wished I'd purchased more of both
I love this - I had an instant positive and calm reaction to it. I also used it to anoint a beeswax pillar candle on the altar, and it is a beautiful calming presence.
A fantastic smelling and workable material conducive to stress relief and meditation. I love to use it on my hands to seek Jupterian relief and rub on my temples for meditation. Love this material.
This salve is great to use on the neck and shoulder area to release tension and let all the stress I’m carrying around just go. My neck moves more freely after using it. I really like the smell too. It’s subtle, like all the salves.
literally it felt like my dad (but someone calmer and steadier than my actual dad though I love him) pulling me into his lap and calmly casually explaining things being alright. its not hypnotic, its really wholesome? buttered toast <3 one of my favorite things
Applying to butt/thighs on a Thursday during Jupiter's hour will result in a. VISIBLE booty gains and b. tremendous sleep. This is what I reach for when I feel generalized anxiety coming on and need to bring my nervous system down to focus or relax (or honestly just exist without an elevated heart rate and shaky hands, imagine that!). I love the herbal blend, too -- almost smells like lying down in a field of grass on a sunny day.
Deep deep oceanic rest is an available when I use this salve. I slather it on if I’ve experienced more than one night if bad sleep and it helps me finally unwind into a deep slumber.
Pisces is 5th house for me and I started using this salve on my low belly during my fertility treatment and now using it before sleep to support my pregnancy.
This is a little warmer feeling than the Cloud Kingdom salve- It feels even more weightless- invisible support, deeply reassuring, the gentlest golden hand that you barely notice because it's holding you from below. I got a massage with it and felt really, really good emotionally for days afterward. I like to think it is good for the masseuse too.
All the legs will relax with the most jovial massage, with this beautiful salve, and if there isn't any mores salve, the tincture helps from where you put it :3
This salve is incredible and was a lifesaver during the seemingly never ending transit of Mars in Gemini. Just a little bit on my feet, neck and jaw and I am completely melted. I tend to hold a lot of tension in my body and this materia helps it melt away. Pairing it and alternating it with Cloud Kingdom has been beneficial for enhanced relaxation and ease with surrender. I love using it before bed as it helps me fall asleep much more quickly and replenishes me via a higher quality of rest.
This salve was my introduction to the Jovial sphere. The slow but hopeful path of finding a way through turmoil (gemini mars era) was assisted using this salve during Thursday/jovial devotions. It truly helps you tap into a sense of idleness, but for the most,* I'm going to lay here and let the sound bowl play while my mind becomes one with every possibility, and I have to *feel* the right one*. And four months post operations, I can confidently say this material has helped expand my horizons with my astrological and philosophical outlook and an overall boost to my faith.
I'll admit this salve has been used to help with the winter temperatures and dryness. It has been an aid in boosting physical warmth, insulation (in many forms) and helps loosen up any tightness. Sometimes I feel like I'm just repeating the descriptions of materia, but the descriptions of effects are *accurate*. Slightly energizing yet still calming for me, so I key to daytime use.
I am a big fan of salves in general, and this Butter Ocean salve is great for several reasons - to relax, for sore muscles, if something hurts, if you're stressed and can feel it in your body. Or if you just want to pamper yourself. Feel yourself just become cozy and gooey and soft, like butter. All the good things.
Wearing this feels like those open mouthed kisses that babies give when they're little. There's no pressure to this salve. It's an invitation for me, like a knowing that's beyond me and intrinsic to me. It's like a sunbeam on a familiar kitchen table after breakfast has been eaten. I've been wearing it a lot with immortal heart, and it gives a rooted, wordless, emotional and mundane joy, one that lives and works and breaks bread with sorrow, as in, supports and is supported by, hardship.
I put it on after work every day and feel so yumm!
First of all, this salve smells BAD.. my kid right away jumped away from me due to the smell 😀 It is like sour butter + feet in wet sock.
BUT -- the benefit is not from the scent, of course -- so I kept using this salve on my feet before bed (sock on to clamp down on the smell) and I felt a gentle feeling of okay-ness each time I used this. Definitely worked to calm the nerve, especially during some stressful Mars transits that happened recently, but in my case, it has to be used daily. The effect was very gentle (usually S+S materias are quite potent on me).
