Fumigated goat skulls, deer vertebrae, and mammoth tusk, burned for over 9-hours to render them black. Pulverized and combined with organic grain alcohol and Saturn in Aquarius Powder to create an Ink + Skin stain.

When I opened the delivery box, my fingers lingered on the bottle of dark ink. My eyes were mesmerised by the way it glittered as it shifted its form. Suddenly, I was floating through the dark void of the infinite and eternal cosmos. The feeling was so strong that it led me to doing a bit of research and purchasing a tiny slice of a meteorite called Muonionalusta. I wanted to anoint it with the Sphere and Sundry Ink for meditation. It’s the oldest meteorite discovered so far, impacting the Earth about one million years ago. Since landing on Earth, the meteorite has been a witness to four ice ages. It was unearthed from a mass of rocks left by a glacier in northern Scandinavia, near the border between Sweden and Finland. It has a unique, structured pattern (see picture) that is an outcome of truly Saturnian processes. As a person born with Saturn in Aquarius in a night chart, I find that this was really the first time I was close to understanding its nature in a somewhat tangible way. Saturn in Capricorn is of bone and soil, much more visceral and therefore less elusive. Its processes can be depicted by decay, something that every human can grasp by the nature of living in a suit of flesh we call a body. However, Saturn in Aquarius is closer to the mental processes accompanying that Capricornian decay – feelings of grief, of transience, of the vast and incomprehensible nature of time. This is more difficult to get a tangible grasp on because of its intellectual nature. If you’re willing to embark on an expedition through the cold and empty vastness of the universe, you shall be rewarded with a true understanding how spectacularly rare is the abundance of green life we have been given on Earth. Use at your own peril.
Using the ink to stain petition papers, or add to my wards around my home. I love the inks because it’s so easy to add the sigil wards as opposed to using the oil as I have done previously. Anyway, this ink is sooo beautiful and like everything in this series, extremely powerful. I’m so honoured to have this in my magical arsenal.
Super beautiful, with both a sparkling depth and lightness to it. Weighty without feeling heavy. Tapped into time in all directions, with a strong pull towards alignment and movement towards the next right things, knowing the big picture moves to be made.
I love how this ink separates into its constituant parts - it looks like a stark, volcanic landscape. Turning the bottle and watching the pigment make its way into the liquid part is meditative for me - inviting the influence of Saturn to make it's way into whatever it is I'm weaving. Like everything from this series, it smells powerfully amazing too.
This ink is a beautiful shimmering black color and possesses such a sternly deep disciplined nature. It's still, and looks like the night sky. I've just recently started to lean into Saturn and find the ink very gentle and forgiving. And powerful
This is the ink I feel called to use most in art, maybe because my natal Saturn is domiciled in my fifth house of creativity. It does shimmer beautifully, even added to paint. Because the actual carrier liquid is clear, and the blackness comes from the particles within, I would recommend painting it alone *over* sigils on paper or using it to draw the sigils themselves (only for impermanent works) because the black particles do flake off and make it hard for mundane ink or paint to stick on top, which isn’t something I’ve noticed with other glitter inks like Azure Dragon. Still 100% recommend, though.
I love this series so much more than I thought I would! I got this ink on a bit of a whim because I have been enjoying other SiA products and wanted to give it a try. First of all it's gorgeous...clear when not shaken up, and then completely dark and full of glittering shimmering dust when you shake it up. Like all S+ inks it's pretty light but I kinda like that aspect as it's easy to use on the skin without drawing too much attention to yourself. It feels serious and contemplative; I can feel already it will be unmatched in works of binding/separating. I'm grateful to have this as part of my magical toolbox!
