I feel such an affinity for Badger as a power ally for the work I do as a shamanic practitioner— this subset has also been helpful for helping me mobilize to meet the energy of my day. I’ve found it helpful for interrupting the “couch-lock” I can move through as a person navigating chronic illness and the overwhelm that can accompany it - executive functioning seems a lot easier.

The other side of the coin is sometimes this materia can magnify internal or external conflict and make me very Mars heavy - mostly it can amplify any sense of agita, restlessness and frustration. I think it could be sublime when paired with a healing yin materia.

Powerful warding - and the term “honey badger dont’ care” keeps coming up in my surroundings - it’s become hilarious to me to hear it at random times, even in the media. But when you need to bring out the Big Guns this is the materia to reach for. have you ever seen a badger in RL? They’re freaking vicious and scary - enemies be warned!

This is not necessarily a standard use of the materia, but since the Badger card came up in a recent reading as one of my guides, I've felt more comfortable using it as I'm led in the moment and gotten massively helpful results when I apply in tandem with IH materia for hard therapy visits or emotional processing I am avoiding otherwise. Honey badger (also) don't give a f*** about Feeling All The Feelings and helps me take my own reactions / traumas less personally when they come up.

The obvious caveat is of course that intentionality makes all the difference between Feeling the Feelings and letting yourself get swept away by some of the angrier ones, but I've only noticed undesirable rage / combativeness effects when I've been less-than-intentional about how I was applying. A little does go a long way!

I had a really good reaction to the main Antares series, as well as Swamp Gator, and if you're a fan of either of them, I'd definitely recommend this. It's sort of a nice compromise of both, to me- "hotter" than swamp gator, but "cooler" than Antares, and with less chance of angry side effects.

I literally only use this for warding and I avoid even opening the bottle much as the smell scares me (in a good way). It reminds me of when I was into mycology and smelt a poisonous mushroom on purpose for learning purposes lmao. Innately repelling, like if I sniff this any longer will it kill me? Back away, leave it, avoid. Like my body just knows what to do. I feel comfortable engaging with it though because when I was smelling it I was watching the new avatar airbender and who comes on the screen? *spoiler* a badger who inadvertently teaches that love is a protective force too

This stuff is wild woodland in a bottle. You can feel it pulsing with earthy energy - purposeful and single-minded. Great for not giving a sh*t... and also for getting your hands dirty in soil and leaf litter. Take it to the woods and roll around in the mud...
