Luna in Cancer Incense + Powder
Watercress, chamomile, milky oat, orris root, ashwagandha, poppy seed, heal all, calamus, mugwort, angelica, and sundry herbs of Lunar provenance following prayers and fumigation throughout the election window.
Later ground in the Moon’s day and hour along with myrrh, silver leaf, white gold, pearl, moonstone, white lotus, and dried moonflower.
Fumigate items or the vessel for Lunar attunements, or to prime before other influences.
Offer to the Moon, to Lunar deities, and Ancestral Matriarchs.
After a quick smoke bath, burn during appropriate mantra practices for prescribed forms of Lunar remediation.
Burn during scrying sessions, before journeying and dream work.
Clears emotional baggage, the mind, and memory, but can activate issues as they rise to the surface before release.
The series description for Luna in Cancer is probably way too long + so are most of the other offering descriptions, so we’ll assume you did the reading homework rather than going into ~all and sundry~ re: applications again
Offered in a 1/2 oz glass vial with cork top or 2 oz bulk pot.
Note that Sphere + Sundry’s Incense Powders are designed to be burned *without* charcoal, on beds of premium ash in a firesafe dish or plate. Pour ash, then pat or use a tool to create a relatively smooth surface. Pour the desired amount of Incense Powder into the palm of your non-dominant hand, and use the other to assemble a thin peaked mound, line, or sigil, pinch by pinch. These can be quite thin if desired. The neater and more ridged your shape is, the better it will burn! Light the top of the ridge to ignite.
Taking time to prepare Incense in this way can be a meditative and centering experience, and allows the practitioner to create custom burn times with zero waste. If your line ends up too long, simply use a knife to ‘cut’ the fresh powder away from the ignited portion to use later.

I use this as part of my moon rituals and it's extremely potent. I tend to burn this particular one outside as it's so energetically strong and very much alive.
This incense is extremely potent, even just being near it while it’s burning as a Lunar offering. Using it this way has cleared blockages to understanding my Lunar sphere and how I can better process emotions and address Lunar issues. I also use it to dress candles for a slightly less intense Lunar experience!
Between the LiC and Exalted Luna incense, this is the one to go to when doing readings and divination. It is more unstable compared to Exalted Luna, which is more for relaxation. The LiC incense functions differently - it is surprisingly powerful, burns easy and smoke is thick, and takes you for a third eye ride almost immediately.
In my practice, I get help from Luna in Cancer Incense for:
1) Divination. I fumigate my Tarot cards and the area of my third eye, crown and throat chakras before asking a question. It can be helpful to burn a little bit of it in the space where you’re going to be divining, too. It doesn’t necessarily have to be divination with tangible tools either, you can simply sit down, close your eyes and ask the universe for an answer while you’re meditating. The incense will assist in thinning the barriers so that your inner self can receive the gnosis from the universe more easily. The answer will sort of appear within you. Important: Once the divination time is over, cleanse the space/tools/yourself with Asclepius incense/salt or burn dried rosemary/have a shower with using salt to wash your head and face to close open energy passages and restore the boundary protection. Otherwise, you’re running a risk of uninvited things attaching themselves to you or your tools (and, let’s say, getting your tarot giving you “funny” answers that don’t make sense).
2) Luna worship. For the “light and love” vibe, go for Luna in Taurus series. For a “dark feminine”, go for Luna in Cancer. If you can choose only one of these, go for Luna in Taurus. It’s far more stable, way safer, gentle and warm and can be used by both, beginners and advanced practitioners.
3) Amplifying petitions/worship to other Celestial Bodies. If the moon is transiting that day closely to a given Celestial Body or through a sign which expression you seek to channel. Always check if there are no hard aspects (square, opposition, conjunction) from the malefics.
I have a natal cancer moon so this materia was easy for me to partake of and feels like a warm hug from the divine feminine. I love pairing it with immmortal heart, Ex Luna and Venus when it’s my Red Tent time of the month, it’s’ literally like being cradled by all the mothers before and after me. Also lovely as an ancestral offering or in any ritual that needs the powerful moon moon magic.
Luna in Cancer is an absolute necessity for anyone doing magical workings. It really demonstrates the concept of catching the timing in a bottle. Transits not that great? Boost other materia with a sprinkle of powerful Moon. On its own, it's also nigh on hallucinatory and great for connecting to the ephemeral.
I love all th S+ incenses because the smell is mild but they’re still distinct enough that each one hits me differently. I love the LiC incense. I find the scent intoxicating in a good way and surprisingly impactful on me and my space.
I often will dress a candle or add some LiC incense to the mix when I want to add a little extra oomph when working with any other spirit (except Mars). Good potentiator. I have had mixed results only because my loose incense burn technique still needs some work. I expect I'll be in for a bulk pot when I finish my 1/2 OZ, and I'm excited to see what LiC incense can do on its own once I'm a bit more comfortable with Lunar workings.
Makes an excellent offering for lunar spirits. After using this materia, it's not unexpected for one to space out and get into an altered state. I tried to drive once after using it in a ritual, and blanked out at one point. Heed the warnings!
I also understand why it's said to 'direct' this materia - sometimes you feel as spiritually as wide as the Moon's orbit!
Oh my goodness, I love this incense. Every time I burn it, I think, why don't I use this more often? It has the gentlest, most soothing presence and smell. I use this along with the kolonia and salve if I need to quickly attune to my Lunar sphere. I love using this incense before bed to encourage dreams. I often will have very sweet dreams working with Luna in Cancer.
Excellent incense when petitioning Moon itself. One of the offering in this series that works excellent on it own.
This feels very potent. I have used it as an offering, and it immediately altered the feeling of the space- there is still clarity, but a moonlit clarity. I will be using it for a Durga mantra practice soon.
I love lighting this incense before/during therapy. It has a clear and marked effect on my emotional sphere. I have mental health issues and I take the warnings on this series seriously. This should only be used in a safe container, like imagine you’re about to take a dangerous drug. You need a safe space and you need someone to lean on for support. I cannot speak for everyone with mental health issues and I definitely can’t speak for anyone who deals with psychosis, but I have tons of other issues that might warn against using this series. Instead I am pulled in here & there and I open up, allow my baggage out, and FEEEEEEEEEL my feelings. It’s difficult to allow yourself to actually feel your feelings and this series does that so well.
I love using this incense as an offering to Luna every Monday and attuning me to the lunar sphere.
Through every S+ series I have worked with, this might be the most potent. So much so that I implore people to take Kaitlin’s advice that if you have any mental health issues, you tread very carefully.
Excellent at opening the deepest magic of ourselves and bringing forth parts of us that we may not have even known existed. Heart-breakingly beautiful
I've been offering this incense to my ancestors every Moonday and the results are SO immediate. after a few weeks of standing in front of the ancestor altar and sobbing while it burned, the grief it helped me/my ancestors to move through has provided so much healing. I also feel the repair happening in matrilineal relationship to resources and my actual relationship with my mother. it gives me the feeling that if I need something, I just need to ask, which is how my ancestors make me feel too. it smells like grandmothers and Pachamama. I think applying it indirectly by offering it to my ancestors was a wise decision, as the emotional breakthroughs are a lot. but as that element eases up, I can feel the experience of it becoming more like eating a satisfying, nourishing meal.
Luna in Cancer! Wow! I was really excited for this series, as a natal Cancer Sun and Moon, and it did not disappoint. It’s probably a combination of my natal placements and the deep emotional work I’ve already been working on for the past few years, but I haven’t personally had any intense or negative reactions to this materia (I also have the beauty oil, hydrosol and body butter). It really has been a soothing balm more than anything. Comfortable, familiar and refreshing. I’ve been blending the incense in particular with other series’ as was recommended, and I definitely can attest to the magically amplifying power of Luna in Cancer. On a practical level, blending with DA II has been essential and incredibly protective. On an enjoyable level, blending with Quicksilver Tongue and Regulus II have probably been my favorite combos so far, in addition to Cloud Daddy because of course that’s a match made in heaven 😉
First of all, this stuff wants to burn. I have a few other incense and it takes a bit of coaching it along. This one just wants to keep burning, which is great.
Also as someone with ruler, moon, in detriment, I’m trying so sort of gently expand my ability to manifest in the physical world without triggering this unfavorable placement and putting salt on the wound so to speak.
After setting up my moon attunement ritual, I added this incense, and proceeded as usual, also adding Fomalhaut to the mix…. Later that evening I decided to search out more about lord Shiva, because I’ve read that offering milk to shiva was another way to sort out moon afflictions. Well I was not disappointed, after a few hours of a deep rabbit hole on how Shiva relates to the fabric of existence on the atomic level, I certainly gained a much deeper understanding of manifestation in this reality and how to deepen my practice to incorporate Shiva archetypal energy. I’m certain that this Luna offering guided my research in the right direction.
