Modeled in hard carver’s wax and cast in molten electrum on August 24, 2019 at 12:10am EST in Williamsport Pa; the Moon applying to conjunction with the fixed star Aldebaran [on the ascendant] within three degrees; suffumigation of milk thistle and frankincense.

Standard, 9 cast:
A thick pendant cast of molten silver and a small portion of gold, bearing the image of a celestial bull. The reverse holds an electrum disk (80/20 alloy of gold and silver) engraved with the symbol of the fixed star, set over an interior made to house sympathetic materia: crushed ruby, frankincense, and the [thorns, silk, and seed] of milky thistle harvested on a previous Aldebaran election.

Ornate, 6 cast:
The head of the celestial bull, fleshed out in three dimensions, and cast in molten electrum on a previous Aldebaran election (May 6, 2019 at 2:43pm EST, Williamsport Pa – Moon conjunct Aldebaran within 2 degrees on the Midheaven); Haloed by an 80/20 electrum disk bearing the symbol of the Royal Star (cast on the August 24th election). A space was left behind the head of the bull to house sympathetic materia: crushed ruby, frankincense, and the [thorns, silk, and seed] of milky thistle; enclosed behind a hammer-set gold star behind the head, and a 1.3 carat Ruby set between the bull’s eye.

Each Talisman comes with a 20” silver chain, and arrives in a black leatherette pendant box, marked by a wax seal of the glyph of Aldebaran for easy identification.

In Western cosmology, Aldebaran is seen as the watcher of the East, the horizon-gate through which the Sun rises each morning, ushering the day itself into being. Modeled in hard carver’s wax, and cast in molten metal on August 9th, 2019 at 6:10AM EST in Williamsport PA, during the planetary hour of the Sun; accompanied by a solar petition and suffumigation of frankincense, cinnamon, sunflower, and celandine.

An 18k gold blazing sun, conjoined with an electrum (an 80/20 alloy of gold and silver) frame depicting our star ascending over the horizon. The heart of the sun is set with a 1.5ct ruby. The reverse side of the talisman is engraved with the planetary characters of the Sun as depicted in Arabic manuscripts of the Ghayat Al Hakim [Picatrix].

Mr. Mack’s preliminary findings —

The Sol in Leo talismans made space for a number of bird of prey synchronicities, beginning with a pair of hawks (the animal totem for the Sol in Leo series, featured upon The Golden Sovereign label) driving crows over my home in the morning hours following the casting (a scene which the talismans had a view of as they lay in a brass bowl under the sunlight post-casting).

My most immediate, embodied experience of the talismans was an awareness and correction of my breathing; which in turn reoriented my attention, put a bit more light behind my eyes and elevated my present experience – rather obvious; though I’d been unconsciously running on shallow breath, and I’d receive a nudge until this was remediated as I proceeded putting the finishing work/stone setting to the talismans.

In the days following the election I was contacted by a handful of clients, some familiar and some new acquaintances regarding not-explicitly-astrological metalwork; each of their projects connected either directly or indirectly to the Egyptian Horus. I’m thrilled with my experience with the Sol in Leo’s while they were at my bench, as well as with the opportunities that have presented themselves in their wake…

Inspired by a workshop given by Professor Charles Porterfield on conjure lamps in the hoodoo tradition at the Viridis Genii Symposium 2019, glass vessels were suffumigated and filled with consecrated Sol in Leo herbal mix before being filled with golden, odorless, and clean burning paraffin lamp oil during the height of the election.

Contents include, among other high quality ingredients, sunflower harvested during the day and hour of the Sun, bay laurel, saffron, ginger, bloodstone, heliotrope, cedar, frankincense, and 24k gold.

As taught by the charisma-laden conjureman, the light (and shadow) from lamps (and candles, no doubt) can be guided with the use of mirrors to shine in certain directions, upon photographs or specific items for additional magical utility. It was this point in particular that inspired the idea that such light could also be used to feed, magnify, and activate talismans, and experiments since have successfully confirmed that suspicion!

A benefit oil lamps in particular possess over candles is that they can be eternally refilled, vastly increasing the span of their application and usefulness. Regulus talismans by goldsmith and planetary mage Tony Mack, cast during the equivalent election per his location. Of his glorious creations, he shares —

Modeled in hard carver’s wax on January 22nd, 2019 at 7:27pm EST in Williamsport PA; accompanied by a petition to the Heart of the Lion, and suffumigation of celandine, mugwort, and wormwood; the corresponding herbs for Regulus via “Liber Hermetis tractans de 15 Stellis”, and H.C. Agrippa.

A pure gold lion’s head likens to a blazing star, conjoined with electrum (an 80/20 alloy of gold and silver) wreath of laurel framing the symbol of Regulus. Equal parts of the aforementioned herbs were placed behind the eyes of the lion before being hammer-set in place. A high grade 1 carat garnet is prong-set into the heart of Regulus.

On the effects —

I began to notice ritual bleed as soon as the date had been set, starting with my being gifted two 80lb stone lions – which became a recurring theme. The hour leading up to the election carried with it tremendous momentum; culminating in an unusual/ moving silence. The words I had prepared gave way to a more fluid and emotive petition, and the entire operation became heart-centered in a way I hadn’t anticipated.

These talismans have a brilliant and warm presence. Like a lantern hung in the heart’s cathedral, from which you can orient or install yourself and shine forth from. There is a very particular courage that wells up, and a benefic desire for the heart to be shown. An expression which won’t diminish or augment itself for fear of the vulnerability that visibility necessarily entails.

One side was impressed with the form of a lion, a piece of garnet in place of a heart and gold leaf as the mane. These were then cured in an infusion of the herbal mixture consecrated to Regulus, setting the election at the prime moment of maximal influence.

Each candle was poured during a supreme Regulus election over mugwort, mastic, yellow trumpet flower, and 6 garnet chips, before being topped with genuine 24k gold leaf.

These candles produce a cohesive, healing, and warm atmosphere. They can be burned during compatible workings or used as a background influence to uplift and inspire.

This election saw the moon and star conjoined on the MC with Jupiter, co-ruler of Regulus, rising. The oil glows with a golden hue and has a healing, warming, and cohesive feel.

Regulus was petitioned and the ingredients suffumigated and combined, sealing the jar and etching the seal at the height of the election.

It was then left to incubate with the rest of the series for a full lunar cycle before pouring into individual vials, on the day and hour of the Sun, which also happened to be Father’s Day.

Incense cones handcrafted while Mars was in the 28^th degree of Capricorn, his degree of optimal performance. The dried, powdered wood of the Machilus thunbergii tree was used as a natural binding and burning agent, mixed with five hand-ground herbs and resins sacred to Mars. These include hot red pepper, genuine dragon’s blood resin, and yohimbe bark, among other proprietary sympathetic ingredients, and bits of iron and rust — not enough to make the smoke toxic, but enough for magical resonance. The scent is warming and invigorating, earthy and rich, befitting Mars at his best, in the Earth sign of Capricorn.

All woods are said to be under the purview of Mars, making even the base agent a worthy addition. The decision to create this incense in the cone form was also intentional — the upward triangle is resonant with the natural shape of flame and, partially because of this, is also the form associated with the element of Fire in the Western magical tradition.

Note that this incense is intended to be used in specialized ceremonial or Martial contexts, and is not for every day use. To light cone incense, hold it sideways so that the tip is in contact with flame until it catches and is well lit. Place the base of the cone on a heat proof surface, such as ceramic, metal, or a layer of sand. Let the flame extinguish itself naturally, leaving an ember that will create smoke as it burns its way down the base. If it goes out, re-light well. Any that is left over can be saved and burned on a piece of charcoal.

Only 108 incense cones were created for this election. Packed with a silica pouch to retain maximum burn potential. Available in packs of 5, the number sacred to Mars. A keepsake in the form of a bloodstone arrowhead is revealed when the candle has fully burned, to be kept indefinitely by the owner as a talismanic generator of Martial potency.

Each candle is in a large 12 oz jar that, depending on burning habits, can provide 45+ hours of burn time. They feature a glass cap with Mars’ glyph, Agrippa’s seal of character, and the kamea or magic square, all inscribed during the operation. As their burning will often be accompanied by that of incense, they are unscented.

The first time you burn a large candle, try to let the pool of wax get as far out as possible because it will leave a ‘memory’ in the wax and create a tunneling effect for future burns, which will greatly reduce the life of a candle. Magical candles are sometimes lit for short periods of time during prayers or petitions, so sometimes this is unavoidable. If you have issues with tunneling, there are ways of fixing it.
